They tend not to work very well. Try tftp boot (using the tftp image in the sun4u directory), or try a CD boot using the ISO images on ftp://cdimage.debian.org/ -- ---===-=-==-=---==-=-- / Ben Collins -- ...on that fantastic voyage... -- Debian GNU/Linux \ ` [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ' `---=--===-=-=-=-===-==---=--=---'

Any 'gotchas' someone can see? Best that I know of is 1.2.2rc4, which is available at ftp://ftp.tux.org/pub/java/JDK-1.2.2/sparc/rc4/ The Solaris version will _not_ work under SPARC/Linux because of the heavy reliance on threads. > I want to install Oracle 8i. Enterprise SPARC Linux
Folks, I have an SS20 with Debian loaded on it. We have a cluster of SS20s, SS10s and US5s at the University where I teach. I'm trying to convert them from Solaris to Debian. My SS20 works fine, but I want to install some Enterprise class software on it. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences (positive or negative): I want to install J2EE, but Blackdown haven't released a port yet. Anyone tried to install the Solaris binaries using the emulation library? Any 'gotchas' someone can see? I want to install Oracle 8i. Does Oracle have an (unofficial) port? Anyone tried running it under the emulation libraries? Simon Read

You therefore have 2 _other_ good choices: 1) Boot from CD 2) Boot over the network
