Hi Patrick,
thx for the quick answer. The good news is i can confirm that [1] is wrong
for my combination (Netra SPARC T4-1 + Solaris 11 + Debian 7.4.0) it _is_
usable.
I checked the LDOM by installing Solaris in it, it works, so the problem
is either a Linux only problem or a problem with the specific LDOM/Linux
combination.
(What i really suspect is a combination of LDOM/sunvdc driver/partition
tables).
Yeah i guess i have to go to the maintainer directly.
I gonna try the lkml and see if i can help with testing at least... (
always wanted to contribute a patch in the kernel too :-) )
Gonna keep you posted.

Subject:Re: Problem with sunvdc driver in Solaris 11 LDOM
installation
Hi Claas,
Welcome to the Debian SPARC mailing list! I think LDOMs are poorly
supported by Debian and perhaps Linux in general. If you search "debian
sparc ldom" in Google, there are a hits about various problems, but one
statement [1] in particular sums up what I thought: "current state of
linux in LDOMs currently is unusable." I'm actually surprised that you
managed to get it installed at all. That's cool.
I'm not 100% sure where you should raise a bug, but Linux sparc kernel
mailing list might be a better place for a driver issue. As a different
question, if you have Solaris installed into an LDOM, does it report the
correct size for the same disk? That is -- is there a problem with the
LDOM software and ISO images, or is there a problem with the Linux driver
-- being certain of that would also be really helpful for the kernel
developers.

Hi everyone,
this is my first post to this list so please be kind with me... :-)
I tried to install Debian sparc 7.4.0 in a Solaris LDOM.
Because i am behind a corporate firewall the network install was no
option.
When i tried to mount the cdrom after modprobing sunvdc i recognize in
dmesg
that all the iso-images Solaris exports as virtualized CD/DVD drives are
_exactly_
640MB even if its a DVD.iso. With the hard disk images exported as
virtualized
HDDs this is not the case.
So my workaround was to copy all the iso image contents on a HDD image and
install from there.
1. Can anybody confirm this (or is this even a known bug? i didnt find
anything on Google though).
2. If it is a Bug, where is the appropriate location to raise it?
Thanks in advance,
Claas Ziemke
p.s. i can post dmesg output etc. of-course, just didnt want to spam the
list with my first post :-)
