Bug#658886: O: proll -- JavaStation PROM 2.x compatible replacement
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the proll package. Ideally either a SPARC porter or the QEMU team (although it switched to use another implementation) should have preference over the adoption, if they so desire. I've just fixed multiple build failures with the upload, so it should be now in an ok state. The package description is: Proll is a 2.x PROM compatible replacement for JavaStations, that can be used on emulators such as Qemu or to make possible to boot Linux, as later 3.x series of the PROMs are unable to boot it. . JavaStations came with two different PROMs installed in them. Version 2.30 shipped with the earliest Mr. Coffee models, that was updated by latter versions of the Sun Netra J software environment to 3.11. Krups and Espresso came with 3.x versions of the PROM by default. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-sparc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? XFree86 4.1.x on a JavaStation (Mr Coffee)
Hi, Has anyone successfully got XFree86 4.1.x (what's in Woody) to run on a Mr Coffee JavaStation? If so, can you share your configuration with me? Thanks Andrew

No. Like I wrote, we used the pre-compiled kernel from the javastation how-to and the root.tar archive from ftp.de.debian.com since I guessed that the kernel included with the tftp bootimage would not work. I just read a posting from Troy Morrison in debian.arm that describes exactly the same problem: < [EMAIL PROTECTED] > So, it looks like I am not the only one having problems to install debian woody via nfs. If the installation over nfs does not work it would be extremly helpful if someone could create a live snapshot of his filesystem and put it on a ftp server. Thanks in advance, bye lars.

Woody: installation on a Javastation
Hello, we are trying to install woody on a javastation (krups) via nfs but have run into several problems which we could not fix. We installed the root.tar-archive from ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/dists/woody/main/disks-sparc/3.0.16-2001-10-27/ on a solaris nfs share with the options rw and no_root_squash. The kernel boots, the system starts just fine with the dbootstrap program, we can load a keymap, but it is not possible to mount a "previously-initialized partition". When we enter the path 194.xx.xx.xxx:/export/linux-fs into the dialog box, we get the error message: mount failed: too many levels of symbolic links. I tried to mount the partition on the second console with: > mount -t nfs 194.xx.xx.xxx:/export/linux-fs /target but there I get the error message: mount failed: invalid argument. I can ping the other machine, so the network should work. Maybe it is a problem with busybox 0.60pre? The changelog for busybox 0.60.1 states: * Manuel Novoa III -- rewrite of simplify_path so it behaves itself (fixing some problems with mount and other applets). We tried the kernel 2.3.99pre2 (from the javastation how-to). The kernel log has two entries: init[1]: Unimplemented SPARC system call 155 sh[6]: Unimplemented SPARC system call 155 However, I can use a shell and the dbootstrap program seems to work right. So far I could not compile a newer kernel version. The pre-compiled 2.4.2 version that is also mentioned in the javastation-howto messed up the solaris dhcp server and had problems communicating with the nfs server. Any help is greatly appreciated. bye lars.
Javastation
Hello, I was trying to install woody on a krups model javastation, which didn't work out, becouse the tftpboot.img didn't boot, and my latest kernel was 2.2.19. Is there someone here who has a javastation, and who would like to help me with trying te get it running. SysV pgpGX3S36GPN8.pgp Description: PGP signature

X & JavaStation
Has anyone gotten a JavaStation to run X. I keep getting an fatal server error: cannot open /dev/kbd, error 19. I've gotten it to work on other sparcs, so I was wondering if maybe the PS2 keyboard was causing the problem, since it's the only Sun machine to have such. Tony
