Setup of linux-wlan-ng
Hi, I have an elitegroup A530+ with a builtin usb-wlan module running with the newest linux-wlan-ng driver module prism2_usb. I _can_ use wlan by configuring the card after bootup like this: , | modprobe prism2_usb prism2_doreset=1 | | wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_ifstate ifstate=enable | | wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_autojoin ssid= authtype=opensystem | | ifconfig wlan0 | | route add default gw 192.168.0.1 ` I would like to set up wlan with the interfaces-file in /etc/networking but... how? There are some configuration files in /etc/wlan but I think that they are not touched when I set up wlan. I have "alias wlan0 prism2_usb" in /etc/modules.conf but when I modprobe it I get this error: insel:~# modprobe wlan0 FATAL: Module wlan0 not found. Second question: How can I set up encryption? I am running kernel 2.6.4 on sid. booting problem with tpconfig after removing it
Hi, I encountered a strange problem today. Suddenly my notebook stops booting after starting klogd. I am running 2.6.1 and unstable. After booting into single user mode I tried to manually start everything in rc2.d via /etc/init.d xyz start and discovered that /etc/init.d/tpconfig hangs. In the shell I could kill it with Ctrl-C, but during boot up there was no chance to kill it. Maybe it is because the tpconfig package was removed. I don't know. So if anybody encountered the same problem. Just remove the links from /etc or purge the package. juh -- Die Schröder-Dummies Der Autokanzler hat verstanden. http://www.sudelbuch.de/2002/20021001.html -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
Used by snd_ali545122660 0 snd_ac97_codec 54468 1 snd_ali5451 snd_pcm97892 1 snd_ali5451 snd_page_alloc 11812 1 snd_pcm snd_timer 24484 1 snd_pcm /etc/init.d/alsa restart Storing ALSA mixer settings ... done. Shutting down ALSA (version 0.9.7): done. Starting ALSA (version 0.9.7): ali5451.
Using Unicode in emacs20
Hi, I think I am going to solve a weird problem. I never managed to run emacs20 with utf-8 encoded files. Now I know the reason. I am using emacs20 and had the package user-de installed. This contains the file /etc/emacs/site-start.d/50user-de.el which contains the line (standard-display-european t) This variable is more or less obsolet, removes the mule-menu from emacs20 and prevents emacs from showing unicode-fonts when using the mule-package from Otfried Cheong http://www.cs.uu.nl/~otfried/Mule/ . Who wants to use unicode in emacs should comment out this variable in his .emacs and in 50user-de.el I wrote a bugreport about this. Problems with CD-Burner after upgrading to Kernel 2.4.3
Hi, I recently upgraded to kernel 2.4.3 with the packages of Adrian Bunk. BTW: Thanks for this possibility! With the new kernel I get the following message from my CD-Burner. Apr 30 08:46:34 debian kernel: sr1: CDROM not ready. Make sure there is a disc in the drive. Of course there is no disc inside. I have an IDE-Burner with SCSI-emulation. The only problem I really have with my burner is, that two of six burnings on CD-RW failed. But that is maybe another question, because I had the same problem with the old kernel.
