If you have two monitors hooked up to a sigle nVidia card then I think there's a possibility to use an nVidia-specific solution instead of Xinerama (it's called TwinView I think). I wasn't even aware of an experimental repository until now. :/ Anyway, it works for Compiz and Beryl for me. I don't know what may be causing your problem. If you like, I can send you my xorg.conf. I've been trying to get Compiz to run on my Debian Sid system. The mouse pointer is still functional, but when moving it into the terminal where I started compiz it disappears. None of the windows are responsive to the mouse. When switching to the console and back my X screen is all black, though the mouse pointer is still visible.
