Instead, you might want to do "apt-get update", and then "apt-get upgrade". This will upgrade you to 1.6.11, which works. -- Arcady Genkin http://www.thpoon.com Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
dselect fails w/ dselect: failed to getch in main menu: Success
I haven't looked into this as vigilantly as I should have, but today, I allowed dselect to update things from the current frozen dist in conjunction with installing a new package. After the install finished, running dselect works to the menu, but fails on selecting any option with the message: dselect: failed to getch in main menu: Success Anyone seen this? I'll look into it further tomorrow, but don't want to reinvent the wheel if not needed. Thanx, Clint

Re: dselect: failed to getch in main menu: Success
There is a problem with dpkg_1.6.10 which gives this error. Please downgrade the dpkg file to dpkg_1.6.9. I assume that you have just done an upgrade to the new package and this broke dselect. dpkg itself still works, so you just need the file and use: dpkg -i packagename.deb Then when dselect is working go to the selection menu and put dpkg on hold for now.
