Bug#235729: RFP: scarab -- Web-based issue tracking system

2004-03-01 Thread Pierre THIERRY
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: scarab
  Version : 1.0 beta
  Upstream Author : [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://scarab.tigris.org/
* License : Apache Software Foundation license
Description : Web-based issue tracking system

The goal of the Scarab project is to build an Artifact tracking system that has
the following features:

- A full feature set similar to those found in other Artifact tracking
systems: data entry, queries, reports, notifications to interested
parties, collaborative accumulation of comments, dependency tracking
- In addition to the standard features, Scarab has fully customizable
and unlimited numbers of Modules (your various projects), Artifact
types (Defect, Enhancement, Requirement, etc), Attributes (Operating
System, Status, Priority, etc), Attribute options (P1, P2, P3) which
can all be defined on a per Module basis so that each of your modules
is configured for your specific tracking requirements.
- Built using Java Servlet technology for speed, scalability,
  maintainability, and ease of installation.
- Import/Export ability via XML allowing for easy migration from other
  systems (e.g. Bugzilla).
- Modular code design that allows manageable modifications of existing
  and new features over time.
- Fully customizable through a set of administrative pages.
- Easily modified UI look and feel.
- Can be integrated into larger systems by re-implementing key
  interfaces.
- Is a ready to use issue management system

Bug#190188: RFS: bbppp -- PPP tool for the blackbox window manager

2004-03-01 Thread Florian Ernst
Dear mentors,

I'm searching for a sponsor for this small adoption:

Package name : bbppp
Version : 0.2.4-1
Upstream : John Kennis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
URL : http://bbtools.sourceforge.net/
License : GPLv2
Description : PPP tool for the blackbox window manager
Long Description :
bbppp is a blackbox tool to control and manage your PPP
link. It can start up /shut down your ppp connection
(by running pon/poff), and displays rx and tx via a
modem-lights style PPP load, and also the PPP link uptime.
 .
Note that you don't actually need blackbox for this program
to work, but it won't look as good in any other window manager.
Closes: 190188
Changes:
 bbppp (0.2.4-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New maintainer (Closes: #190188)
   * New upstream release
   * Updated manpage to reflect v0.2.4
   * Cosmetical fix to usage screen
   * Standards:-version 3.6.1

The new upstream release basically incorporates the same patches as
just have been applied in 0.2.3-4, but as I like those better than the
upstream change I forward-ported them (*ahem*, kill four lines, add
five similar, but slightly different lines).
There were no other upstream changes.

lintian (v1.22.11) and linda (v0.2.23) clean; orig.tar.gz, diff.gz,
i386.deb, i386.changes and .dsc (last two gpg-signed) can be found at

http://ernst.uni-hd.de/debian

As 0.2.3-4 has just entered the archives the next upload should better
be delayed until that version gets into Sarge...

Thanks for taking your time,
cheers,
Flo

Bug#235637: O: libgpio -- The GPhoto I/O library

2004-03-01 Thread christophe barbe
libgpio doesn't exist AFAIK. It was a temporary name for libgphoto2_port
library and was never released with that name. I think the best would be
to remove it.

If everybody (silently) agree, I will retitle the bug and reassign it to
ftp.debian.org to request its removal.

Bug#85784: ITP: Ogg Theora - Video codec from Xiph.org

2004-03-01 Thread Chris Cheney
Ogg Theora alpha 3 test release will be coming out soon but until there
is a beta release they don't really want it being distributed since the
format is still changing. I think Monty is still working on improving
the ogg container format to support other codecs than vorbis, which will
help with theora as well. They had initially planned on the beta to be
released back in March 2003 but it has slipped quite a bit.

By the way, do you know why? He used to be a very active developer,
and then disappeared...

I suppose so. However, it is optimized for the ev5, I don't know how
well it does on ev6.

Hm, I've never really used it, I'll think about it. Right now I don't
really have time for a few weeks, anyway... (finishing diploma)

On a related note, when I asked, somebody at DEC^WCompaq^WHP (George
France) said it wouldn't be totally impossible to make some of the
Tru64 system libraries ("libots") free software, and he would ask
about it. That would be cool, since it contains highly optimized
assembly routines and might make libffm redundant. Last time I asked
him about progress I didn't get a reply, though. Just thought I'd
mention it in case you meet somebody from HP... ;-)

Falk, does this package still have performance advantages on Alpha?
Are you interested in maintaining it or do you know another Alpha
person interested in it?

David, I know you are very excited about packaging this - Just please
don't send multiple ITPs. Please choose your favorite and close the
other two (or more? :) )

>From your different ITPs, I think this one has the best
description. Maybe mention a bit in the extended description what sets
it apart from other blogs (which are by no means scarce in the
archive). If you cannot find somehting that JAWS does that no other
package does, re-think your ITP - Debian does not just want to be big
for the sake of it.

Partially ;)

Actually I meant I'd wait until bbppp_0.2.3-4.diff.gz is available
on the mirrors. At the moment I can only see 0.2.3-3, but I can fetch
0.2.3-4 from incoming which I'm going to do now...

Once I have packaged it I'll wait until 0.2.3-4 has made it into

Bug#235604: ITP: q-lang -- Q equational programming language

2004-03-01 Thread Kari Pahula
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: q-lang
  Version : 5.2-1
  Upstream Author : Albert Graef <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://q-lang.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
Description : Q equational programming language

Q stands for "equational", so Q, in a nutshell, is a programming
language which lets you "program by equations". You specify a system of
equations which the interpreter uses as "rewrite rules" to reduce
expressions to "normal form".

The Q language supports a rich variety of built-in types, like
arbitrary precision integers, floating point numbers (double precision
64 bit), truth values, strings, lists and files. It also provides
primitives for exception handling and multithreaded execution. Q also
allows you to interface to "external" modules written in the C
programming language, which provides a means to access functions in C
libraries and employ C's higher processing speed for time-critical
tasks. Conversely, Q scripts can also be executed from C, which allows
Q to be used as an embedded language or term rewriting engine in C/C++
applications.

Bug#174875: wish to adopt pppoeconf

2004-03-01 Thread Peter Samuelson

I know you have offers for this already, but a friend just pointed out
to me that pppoeconf is up for adoption, and I was interested in
working on it anyway. I'm not a DD, so I would need a sponsor for this
package - maybe you, maybe someone else. I am quite good at shell
scripting, and have done some Debian packaging (mostly for private
purposes).

The reason I was already thinking about pppoeconf is that I wanted to
add support for setting up kernel-mode pppoe. The 'pppoe' kernel
module is available on Linux 2.4/2.6 and recent versions of pppd, and
this mode does not require the userspace 'pppoe' package at all. As I
understand it, it should be a bit more efficient than user-mode pppoe.
(I use kernel-mode pppoe, and it works fine, but I haven't done
benchmarks on CPU load or anything.)

I just downloaded pptp-linux, and it looks like support for PPTP would
not be difficult to add either. The difficulty with *that* is the need
for an external kernel module; 'kernel-patch-mppe' is around, and
apparently an alternative module exists somewhere which does not
require kernel patching. I'm unsure whether or not to try and support
PPPoA as well; I just don't know anything about that.

I'd like to maintain pppoeconf, but if you would rather keep it, I can
just start to produce patches for these features, and you can apply
them on their merits.

Well openca 9.2 is under development, however some snapshot are already
packaged; you can find them at http://www.ge.infn.it/~razeto/openca/
(the latest snapshot Feb 25 does not work for me, I suggest Feb 4).

The original CVS archive of openca and debian stuff can be found on the
openca cvs page (see www.openca.org).

Bug#225069: Duplicate ITP

2004-03-01 Thread Birzan George Cristian
Hello!

I've now noticed that there is a duplicate ITP for sysmon, both #157252
and #225069. While looking for its entry in the BTS, I only noticed the
first, so I filed an ITP. So, I intend to patch up for my blunder by
offering what I have so far to Przemyslaw Frasunek (his ITP preceeds
mine by 60 days), if he wants.
I will close my ITP as soon as I get confirmation from him that he is
still working on these.

Description sounds OK now - but you have 3 separate ITP bugs now, not
one.
