Bug#481450: ITP: libbiblio-endnotestyle-perl -- Reference formatting using Endnote-like templates

2008-05-16 Thread Vincent Danjean
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Vincent Danjean [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: libbiblio-endnotestyle-perl
  Version : 0.05
Upstream Author : Mike Taylor [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Biblio-EndnoteStyle/
* License : perl (GPL/Artistic)
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : Reference formatting using Endnote-like templates

This small module provides a way of formatting bibliographic
references using style templates similar to those used by the popular
reference management software Endnote (http://www.endnote.com/). The
API is embarrassingly simple: a formatter object is made using the
class's constructor, the new() method; format() may then be
repeatedly called on this object, using the same or different
 templates.
 .
(The sole purpose of the object is to cache compiled templates so that
multiple format() invocations are more efficient than they would
otherwise be. Apart from that, the API might just as well have been a
 single function.)

[This module is needed for koha]

Bug#481470: RFP: spamtrainer -- Spam Trainer makes it easier for GNOME users to train spam filtering software

2008-05-16 Thread Olivier Berger
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: spamtrainer
  Version : 0.1.5
Upstream Author : Graham Ashton [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://spamtrainer.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Mono
Description : Spam Trainer makes it easier for GNOME users to train spam
filtering software

Excerpt from http://spamtrainer.sourceforge.net/ :

Spam Trainer makes it easier for GNOME users to train spam filtering software
(e.g. SpamBayes or SpamAssassin) that learns how to tell the difference
between real email (ham) and unsolicited messages (spam).

Not all email clients have spam filtering (and training) built in. Training
external filtering programs can be fiddly. Spam Trainer was written to provide
easy (drag and drop) training from the Evolution mail client, and should work
just as well with any email client that supports the drag and drop protocol
implemented by the GTK+ toolkit.

Thanks in advance.

Bug#481471: ITP: octave-tsa -- time series analysis in Octave

2008-05-16 Thread Rafael Laboissiere
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Debian Octave Group [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: octave-tsa
  Version : 3.10.6
  Upstream Author : Alois Schlögl
* URL : http://octave.sourceforge.net/tsa/index.html
* License : GPL2+
  Programming Lang: Octave
Description : time series analysis in Octave

The TSA toolbox for Octave is useful for analyzing (uni- and multivariate,
stationary and non-stationary) Time Series. An Introductory tour to Time
Series Analysis and the Download site can be found here.

It can be used for:

1. stochastic signal processing
2. autoregressive model identification
3. matched (inverse) filter design
4. Histogram analysis
5. Calcution of the entropy of a timeseries
6. Non-linear analysis (3rd order statistics)
7. smoothing, prediction, filtering
8. Test for Hurwitz and Unit-Circle Polynomials
9. handles missing values (NaN's)

Several criteria (AIC, BIC, FPE, MDL, SBC, CAT, PHI) for the selection of
the order of an autoregressivemodel are included. Furthermore includes the
toolbox a fast version ifthe Yule-Walker method for estimating
Autoregressive parameters, the AutocovarianceFunction (ACovF),
Autocorrelation Function (ACF), Partial ACF (PACF),andsome other useful
staff. Demo programs can be started with demo or demotsa. Version 2.40
(and higher) provides fast algorithms for testing polynomials; and many
functions (e.g. ACovF and the Levinson-Durbin algorithms) are implemented
for multiple series.

This package will be maintained by the DOG (Debian Octave Group) and will
soon appear in the SVN repository at Alioth [1].

After you have authenticated a user (perhaps with

are authorized to access the Web resource under this modules control.
 .
You can control authorization via one of four methods. The first two
are pretty standard, the second two are unique to LDAP.
 .
 require options --
 .
user - Will authorize access if the authenticated user's username.
 .
valid-user - Will authorize any authenticated user.
 .
group - Will authorize any authenticated user who is a member of the
LDAP group specified by groupdn. This module supports groupOfMember,
groupOfUniquemember and Netscape's dynamic group object classes.
 .
ldap-url - This will authorize any authenticated user who matches the
query specified in the given LDAP URL. This is enables users to get the
flexibility of Netscape's dynamic groups, even if their LDAP server does
not support such a capability.

2008-05-16 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
ok -- upload is sponsored but for the next upload set a little more
precise dependencies since libqt4-opengl-dev is not available on
hurd-i386, sparc, and you have architecture any, thus it will be FTBFS
on those architectures. Now we should just hope that no major problems
will be detected by ftpmaster ;-)
also that would be great if you work out with upstream some nice plan
to define paths, so you could over-define them without hard-patching the
code/build system.

And I want to emphasize that you should use pbuilder with up-to-date
chroot any time you are building package to be sponsored. It should be a
must, ok? (I have a cron job which updates all my pbuilder chroots every
night and I advice you do setup the same thingie)

In any case -- thanks for a nice work and patience!

I'm requesting an adopter for the wmakerconf-data package. This goes
along with wmakerconf, and is actually part of the same source (but was
packaged into its own separate source package early in its history).

Anyone taking this also needs to take wmakerconf and take over as upstream
for both packages. IMO the separation of wmakerconf and wmakerconf-data

The wmakerconf-data package description is:
This contains the necessary information that enables wmakerconf to generate
a configuration file for Window Maker. In normal circumstances, you
only have to change this package in order to be able to configure a new
version of Window Maker. This package is useless without wmakerconf and
an appropriate version of Window Maker.

This library is designed to support MFC/R2 signalling in the ZapTel
environment, but should be easily adaptable to other dumb E1 cards that
allow channelised CAS signaled operation.

It is intended that the library eventually support most national
variants of the MFC/R2 protocol. The application specifies the national
variant when opening a channel.

It can make and receive calls successfully when connected to a Dialogic
E1 card running their GlobalCall package, in China and Argentina modes.

Hello,

This is an automatic mail sent to close the ITP you have reported or

mass closing and not let people know that they can easily reopen
their bugs ;-).

crcanvas is a GTK/Cairo canvas widget and comes with Python bindings.
The intent of this widget is to allow more flexibility than the
traditional GtkLayout. The features of crcanvas are:

- - Has a built in scaling and panning model
- - It is trivial to design custom canvas items
- - No circular dependency between the canvas widget and the canvas item
- - Each canvas item can send invalidate signals on its item coordinate
space, the device coordinate space, or a combination of both
- - The canvas widget emits a before paint signal during its expose
  logic.
- - A repaint mode allows for all items to be repainted regardless of
  which ones requested updates
- - The CrBlit grouping item can, in some cases, significantly improve
  performance

This is basically a rewrite of ekg, but with a plugin structure. The
project goal is to provide an internationalized, multiprotocol,
featureful and stable console instant messenger program. So far it has a
ncurses and readline interfaces, and support for gadu-gadu and jabber
protocols (using libgadu and expat, respectively). Also other stuff is
available, such as SMs sending, mail checking, spellcheck etc.

The project is still very dynamically developed, so the first uploads
will certainly be to experimental.

Note: the long package description will be different - I still need to
get to know the program better to provide a nice description.

Bug#481082: ITP: crypt++el -- Emacs-Lisp Code for handling compressed and encrypted files

2008-05-16 Thread Mario Lang
Christoph Martin [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

 Package: wnpp
 Severity: wishlist
 Owner: Christoph Martin [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I intend to reintroduce crypt++el into Debian because I think we still
need it. The mentioned alternatives jka-compr and easypg do not provide
all the features which crypt++.el provides.

Although Karl Berry stopped maintaining the file some years ago, it is
now again maintained within xemacs packages. See
 http://cvs.xemacs.org/viewcvs.cgi/XEmacs/packages/xemacs-packages/os-utils/crypt.el

I have been the maintainer of crypt++.el until 09/2003, then mario lang
took over. Now he seems to have dropped it. It was removed from the
 archive, some time ago.

Just for reference, I've dropped it since someone requested[1] and had
a removal granted from the archive without letting me know at all.
I was just about to do a new upload to fix some of the
open bugs and especially get the debmake stuff resolved. I saw it removed
after the fact, and simply dropped it then due to lack of energy to persue the
matter.

Thanks for taking it over again, I've used it in the past and it has done
a good job.

Bug#481490: ITP: unionfs-fuse -- user-space directory concatenation

2008-05-16 Thread Bernd Schubert
On Friday 16 May 2008, Daniel Baumann wrote:
how does it compare to funionfs?

Compare the sources yourself ;) Funionfs has all code in a very few files,
only a very few comments and then some of these in French...
On the other hand, unionfs-fuse is well structured, has many comments, uses
lots of static functions, etc (well I wrote large chunks of the cow code, so
I naturally think the code looks good ;) ).

However, I tested funfionfs myself some time ago and it wasn't running
sufficiently stable (this was shortly before I started to work on
unionfs-fuse).

Again on the other hand, unionfs-fuse is sufficiently stable to run on
diskless workstations (used by my former university group for /etc and /var)
and diskless HPC compute nodes (we are presently using it on most of our
clusters for all system directories). Both of these setups do require large
uptimes and an rock stable unionfs implementation.

Btw, I'm not going to package the released version and also for now not Radeks
main branch, since both branches have some severe bugs. Radek is presently
also too busy to merge my branch
(http://podgorny.cz/~bernd/hg/hgwebdir.cgi/radek-trunk-bernd-merge).

Cheers,
Bernd

PS: I know, funionfs has one advantage to unionfs-fuse, it has a control
utility. However, for our needs a stable unionfs implementation is by far
more important than this tool.

confirmed for Moonfest,Wiltshire, includes support from Pete DohertyZenythThe fast
rising Cardiff rockers making waves this year in the UK festival scene are one of
the Top Acts billed on the main stage they will be supported by a solo performance
by Pete Doherty the cult classic rock band Leafhound and will be supporting
The Australian Pink Floyd and Ozric Tentacles on the Saturday of the 3 day festival.
Zenyths fresh ballsy rock and their powerful sound

2008 Mr. Nobody.Pete DohertyNotorious tabloid darling and now Marlborough-based indie pop star
Pete Doherty is to play a solo set. There had been some confusion as to whether
he would appear as he has recently been serving a 14-week stretch for drug offences
in Wormwood Scrubs prison. However, the star was controversially released early
on Tuesday 6th May.A new festival on
the block in Wiltshire will boast some great musical acts on the bill when it's
held in August.Wiltshire plays host to numerous
outdoor music events over the summer months each year, and in 2008 there's a new
kid on the block. The inaugural 'Moonfest' is to be held
at Storridge Farm near Westbury over the weekend of Friday 29th-Sunday 31st August
and numerous top international acts have already signed up to appear.Friday sees a dance night featuring DJ sets on the Main Stage but
the Saturday and Sunday calendar is packed with well-known names.Ozric TentaclesIf
you were an outdoor gig-goer in the nineties, you can't fail to have seen Somerset
space rockers Ozric Tentacles also set for the Main Stage on Saturday. They were
ubiquitous on the festival circuit in that era, and 27 albums later, they are still
going strong. And headlining the Main Stage on Saturday
are top international tribute act, The Australian Pink Floyd. As there is little
chance of ever seeing the original band reunite for a tour, The Australian Pink
Floyd are considered the next best thing to seeing the real thing. They will also
be bringing their stunning light show.Back
to the EightiesSunday on the Main Stage
at Moonfest is dedicated to The Eighties. Things kick off with Into the Bleach -
a Blondie tribute act before the real fun starts with a succession of top bands
from the era that taste forgot.Heaven 17Hip soulsters Curiosity Killed the Cat, funksters Shakatak, soul
trio Imagination, popsters Go West and synth poppers Heaven 17 are all set to appear.
This a line-up no Wiltshire Eighties kid should miss out on!Fans
of the many talented local bands and singers Wiltshire has to offer will not miss
out either.Over the whole weekend, on two separate
stages in The Sovereign Marquee and The Riffs Marquee, local acts such as Rob Sharples,
The Doubtful Guest, The Alfonz and The Mentalists will be playing live.In total, nearly 50 Wiltshire bands and musicians are set to appear
at Moonfest over the festival weekend.Weekend

Bug#446687: ITP: pygpu -- embedded language for programming graphics processing units using Python

2008-05-16 Thread Sandro Tosi
 * Package name: pygpu
  Version : 0.2.0a-629
Upstream Author : Calle Lejdfors [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 * URL : http://www.cs.lth.se/home/Calle_Lejdfors/pygpu/
 * License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : embedded language for programming graphics processing
 units using Python

PyGPU is a compiler that lets you write image processing programs in
Python that execute on the graphics processing unit (GPU) present in
modern graphics cards. This enables image processing algorithms to
take advantage of the performance of the GPU. In some applications,
performance increases approach an order of magnitude, compared to
 CPUs.

Here[1] you can find a preliminary version of the package. Feel free
to report to myself any problem/suggest or so.
