Just for the record, I don't want to stand in anyones way; however, the package
is as ready as it can be; the problem is really on upstream release process.

It's completely unclear when to release and what to release and that is what
we are trying out in ubuntu lucid. Most likely we will get out of this that
we need to work with upstream on something better.

One example: If you look at the release channels, you will notice that
there are two releases a week in average or something. Not real releases, tags
or anything like that. The problem here is that chromium uses a continuous
rollout
and backout approach, which is fine on its own, but when it comes to reflecting
this in a distro you easily become trapped to either keep up with their update
frequency through the security channel :-P (e.g. going through security twice
a week ;)) ... or somehow figuring how to bake stable releases from a continuous
head in a way that you can release regression free security updates as those
are announced.

I am not saying there is no way to do that, just that its tough and we have to
learn a lot before we can consider putting chromium in a stable release for
debian.

Dude,

The problem is that chromium browser cannot be maintained in a debian
stable relase as it is. If you think different talk to me on IRC.

Let's wait how bad it blows up once ubuntu lucid enters stable release mode.

* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : old-school first person shooter

Cytadela is a conversion of an old Amiga first person shooter. The
original was created in mid 1990's by Virtual Design, and released
firstly in Poland and then in other countries.

This is a single player game in which the player fights against AI
enemies. The goal of the game is to find six bomb parts with which
the Citadel has to be blown up. To achieve it, the player not only
has to defend himsefl against the enemies, but (s)he also has to
solve many riddles, such as switching apropriate buttons in order to
open some door, move some walls, etc.

As a conversion, this project tries to be as similar to the original
as possible and therefore there won't be any significant changes,
only some gameplay improvements are possible.

This version is fully playable and beatable, but the introduction and
ending sequences are not developed yet (they are planned for v1.0).

The user interface is easy to use and uses delegates (Signals and slots)

Hello,

In the past I have sponsored the acct package.
The actual maintainer is in my opionion not active enough to maintain

So I request a RFA for this package.

If you want to take care of this package, you may also private mail me,

PS: If nobody takes care of the package in the next weeks, I will request
a removal of it in testing/squeeze, because of an open security issue,
which is fixed with a new upstream version.

Maintaining a package requires time and skills. Please only adopt this
package if you will have enough time and attention to work on it.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see

I request an adopter for the peercast package.

The package description is:
PeerCast is a P2P streaming server. It can stream music
and video from a broad variety of formats.

Peercast used to be a very promising projects. However, the
software has not evolved for several years and had been unmaintained
for two years now.

The main developper is very nice and used to accept external contributions.
However, he seems to lack time to maintain this project now..

For these reasons, I do not want to maintain this package anymore. Since
there seems to still be interested users, according to popcon, I would
be very happy to give it to any interested maintainer/contributor.

Peercast has been removed from unstable.

Any interested maintainer may still upload a new package, though.

There's the package in Ubuntu. I think that's the current best bet. I
have some code lying around for 1.4 that I never finished enough that I
wanted to get it sponsored into Debian, so it just went stale. I can try
to dig it out from the depths of $HOME/src somewhere.

> - Is https://launchpad.net/opennebula dead ? (no upload since

That's probably due to the fact that upstream moved their VCS to git.
I've added a new code import for that, it should be pulled soon. Thanks
for the nudge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bug#578650: RFP: libpam-python -- a PAM Module that runs the Python interpreter to w$

2010-04-21 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: libpam-python
  Version : 0.1.1
  Upstream Author : Russell Stuart
* URL : http://www.stuart.id.au/russell/files/pam_python
* License : Eclipse Public License v1.0
  Programming Lang: C, Python, etc.)
Description : a PAM Module that runs the Python interpreter to write pam
mo$

Perhaps the long package description can be based on this text from
the web page:

The pam_python PAM module runs the Python source file (aka Python
PAM module) it is given in the Python interpreter, making the PAM
module API available to it. This document describes the how the PAM
Module API is exposed to the Python PAM module. It does not describe
how to use the API. You must read the PAM module writers guide to
learn how to do that. To re-iterate: this document does not tell you
how to write PAM modules, it only tells you how to access that the
  PAM module API from Python.

Writing PAM modules from Python incurs a large performance penalty
and requires Python to be installed, so it is not the best option
for writing modules that will be used widely. On the other hand
memory allocation / corruption problems can not be caused by bad
Python code, and a Python module is generally shorter and easier to
write than its C equivalent. This makes it ideal for the system
administrator who just wants to make use of the the PAM API for his
own ends while minimising the risk of introducing memory corruption
problems into every program using PAM.

Description: portable shell tool from the GNU project
GNU shtool is a tool for developers of software programs. It is a compilation
of small but very stable and portable shell scripts into a single shell tool.
All ingredients were in successful use over many years in various free software
projects. The compiled shtool program is intended to be used inside the source
tree of other free software packages. There it can overtake various (usually
non-portable) tasks related to the building and installation of such a package.
It especially can replace the old mkdir.sh, install.sh and related scripts.

Description : efficient, principled regular expression library

RE2 is a fast, safe, thread-friendly alternative to backtracking regular
expression engines like those used in PCRE, Perl, and Python. It is a C++
library.

RE2 uses automata theory to guarantee that regular expression searches run in
time linear in the size of the input. RE2 implements memory limits, so that
searches can be constrained to a fixed amount of memory. RE2 is engineered to
use a small fixed C++ stack footprint no matter what inputs or regular
expressions it must process; thus RE2 is useful in multithreaded environments
where thread stacks cannot grow arbitrarily large.

On large inputs, RE2 is often much faster than backtracking engines; its use
of automata theory lets it apply optimizations that the others cannot.

It hasn't released a version yet, but is reported to have been widely used
within Google for a while. We presume it has stabilised a bit.

It works that time, I only had to export the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable
in runSalome, I have attached the patch.

I could run Salome with the GEOM, MED, SMESH and YACS modules which
are loaded by default. The MULTIPTR and HELLO modules work too when
added on the command line. The PYHELLO module seems to have a loading
problem but that is a developer example. The remaining modules do not
seem to have a GUI. I plan to work on the VISU module now once the
patches are sent to upstream.
Thank you very much for the great work, I am glad to see a first
working version in Debian.

All the best,

André

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is required for runSalome

Exporting the variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH is required for starting Salome
even if the variable points to a default research path.

Nicolas knows some of the upstream developers so we hope to succeed
the inclusions but there is no guarantee.

I am interested to help on that task once the first Salome version run.
Moreover the metis package will also be useful for the MED module
of Salome.

frameworks and mixed-technology sites, with automatic learning

Cutting-edge security logic: high quality, low false positive,
differential security checks, capable of spotting a range of subtle
flaws, including blind injection vectors.
