Bug#673727: testing grunt packaging
I just tried to build the grunt package from the VCS myself as I'd like to test with the JsSIP code and start packaging it. I can build the grunt package and install it without errors. It doesn't appear to install any launch script (e.g. /usr/bin/grunt) When I try to run it manually nodejs /usr/lib/nodejs/grunt/grunt.js it fails to run, because coffeescript is missing (please add to the dependencies) After adding coffeescript from sid, it still fails, now it complains about hooker: module.js:340 throw err; ^ Error: Cannot find module 'hooker' at Function.Module._resolveFilename (module.js:338:15) at Function.Module._load (module.js:280:25) at Module.require (module.js:364:17) at require (module.js:380:17) at Object. Bug#689207: rust: changing back from ITP to RFP
> This is an automatic email to change the status of rust back from ITP > (Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug > hasn't seen any activity during the last 10 months. It's a bit unfortunate that this hijack happened quite quickly, as background work on rust is ongoing. Me and Tom Lee started working upstream to iron out some bits (but it's still a long way), and Sylvestre too recently expressed interest. I'm currently trying to get libuv in sync, get it in debian and out of rust source. LLVM is going to be next big beast after that. libuv is currently stuck in NEW [0] and may not be currently usable as-is: it will be probably bundled for some time. With the fedora packager, we started noting down major issues with current rust [1]. I have an initial packaging for 0.6/0.7 available on collab-maint [2], and some monolithic binaries [3]. However I believe rust is still far from being in a releasable state for Debian and much stuff has to be discussed wrt. libraries ABI, runtime/compiler split, bootstrapping, cross-arch, etc. As a sidenote, I'm still working on both sides to get a proper package in the archive. To use a shell scripting analogy, we could replace jshint with a symlink to /bin/true and the builds of all these packages would still succeed, we just wouldn't benefit from the feedback about any code style issues. I also notice that grunt-contrib-jshint is a separate upstream source package. That means the main node-grunt package can be part of Debian main and only grunt-contrib-jshint needs to go into non-free To take the idea further, we could make grunt-contrib-jshint into a virtual package, with two real packages providing it: grunt-contrib-jshint-only-for-good.deb (in non-free) - packaging of upstream's work grunt-contrib-jshint-mock: (in main) - a substitute package that doesn't do any linting, much like /bin/true doesn't do anything Developers who want to manually jshint their code and feel they qualify for the "no evil" clause can then manually install the non-free package, while pure DFSG builds would work using the mock package. While it seems sad not to lint all the JavaScript automatically, the presence of a non-free license means we just have to treat jslint (and derivatives like jshint) as if they just don't exist at all until such time that somebody rewrites the code in a DFSG-compliant manner. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#673187: Berusky2 for Debian: license clarification
Hi, It appears those files are used in src/komat/Texture.cpp and src/tmp/compat.h too. I'm not sure what happens if I remove them and I also need to adjust the build system. So I'd be glad if you could remove them from the next release. Of course an additional license clarification, that these files are free software, would also do. Sure, I'm going to ship a new release which will address it. In its current state it is doable but not trivial to extract the files to a format where they can be modified by the users. I'm not aware of a free software tool that can extract those pak files. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Though I believe that those data files are compliant with Debian's free software guidelines but would wish that they were more accessible. All content of the data files (and those files themselves) are distributed under GPLv2 (plus the soundtrack is also released under CC) and are also shipped in Fedora so I don't expect any complications here. I can bundle the extraction tool if necessary (it can be run in wine). ma. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#720916: ITP: x11-touchscreen-calibrator -- X Window System's Touchscreen Calibrator
Hi Sebastian, IIRC, xinput-calibrator is an interactive program. That means xinput-calibrator needs the user's operation. x11-touchscreen-calibrator is a daemon running in the background. It will detect the touchscreen automatically and adjust the corresponding Coordinate Transformation Matrix of Touchscreen xinput when the resolution is changed. It should also support rotation, reflection, and different scaling mode of display output. Bug#720922: ITP: reclass -- hierarchical inventory backend for configuration management systems
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: "martin f. krafft" Package name: reclass Version : 1.0 Upstream Author : "martin f. krafft" URL : http://github.com/madduck/reclass License : Artistic 2.0 Programming Lang: Python Description : hierarchical inventory backend for configuration management systems reclass is an "external node classifier" (ENC) as can be used with automation tools, such as Puppet, Salt, and Ansible. It is also a stand-alone tool for merging data sources recursively. The purpose of an ENC is to allow a system administrator to maintain an inventory of nodes to be managed, completely separately from the configuration of the automation tool. Usually, the external node classifier completely replaces the tool-specific inventory (such as site.pp for Puppet, ext_pillar/master_tops for Salt, or /etc/ansible/hosts). reclass allows you to define your nodes through class inheritance, while always able to override details further up the tree (i.e. in more specific nodes). Think of classes as feature sets, as commonalities between nodes, or as tags. Add to that the ability to nest classes (multiple inheritance is allowed, well-defined, and encouraged), and piece together your infrastructure from smaller bits, eliminating redundancy and exposing all important parameters to a single location, logically organised. -- .''`. martin f. krafft Related projects: : :' : proud Debian developer http://debiansystem.info `. `'` http://people.debian.org/~madduckhttp://vcs-pkg.org `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing systems digital_signature_gpg.asc Description: Digital signature (see http://martin-krafft.net/gpg/sig-policy/999bbcc4/current)

Bug#673727: jshint -> non-free, node-grunt -> contrib?
Could the jshint code just be uploaded to the non-free archive for the moment? Then node-grunt would potentially belong in contrib This would allow developers of other packages to proceed with their efforts. Other packages that build-depend on node-grunt would end up in contrib too, which is not ideal, but it may be better than not having them at all. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#679905: RE : Bug#679905: cctbx: changing back from ITP to RFP
> Hi all, Hello Baptiste > it makes me sad to see cctbx going back to RFP, unfortunately this is > closer to the truth as far as I'm concerned. this is the standard procedure, cctbx is not yet ready for inclusion after one year, so ITP -> RFP. now , I did not managed to work on cctbx since I need first to tackle the ccp4 part... Once his will be done, I think that it will be easyer to work on cctbx. > I still have interest in the package, but interest is not enough. Due to > real life problems (moving homes, unforseen difficulties with a paid > assignment), I have not been able to work on it at all since last february. Yes I understand, so I hope that your problems will find solutions. thanks for the great work you already done on cctbx > I can't tell yet when I've got more time available. For this reason, I > won't change the bug back to ITP until I've got some work done. If > anybody else feels like working on it before I do, go for it. And if you > have any questions, feel free to ask me. Indeed the gir repository of the cctbx packaging is still available in Debian science.
