I took only a look at the source for now. The whole conffile handling in the maintainer scripts was really only roughly done by me and probably should be improved. E.g. the preinst should check for the version it gets upgraded from and only do the conffile stuff, if the old version is older than 0.8.0 (or something). It should also check the md5sum of the conffile and remove the old conffile instead of moving it, if it was unchanged. Bug#467584: RFA: modconf -- Device Driver Configuration
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I request an adopter for the modconf package. This program is a remnant of the old boot-floppies installer and will probably need a complete redesign and rewrite to remain useful. For neither I have the time, but I will happily share some of my thoughts about that with people interested. Note that there is a Alioth project "modconf" for this package which a new maintainer should take over as well (but maybe only to delete it, it is currently used only for the mailing list modconf-commits). It provides a nifty dialog-based playlist editor. . It basically allows you to browse through your files in a "Midnight Commander"-like fashion. The MP3's you select are treated as a playlist which can be shuffled, rearranged, saved, etc. . In order to play audio files, two player interfaces are provided. The mpg123-specific interface uses the remote protocol of mpg123 (This feature was introduced in version 0.59r in order to accommodate generic frontends.) The other player frontend is generic and allows for any player to be used. This is useful if you do not want to limit the functionality of juice to MP3's. Please note that this generic frontend is still in early beta phase and is pretty buggy. . Of course juice comes with all the bells & whistles you'd expect from a quality application and has (among others) full integrated help functionality as well as full dialog based configuration file editor. You are receiving this mail because: - your name showed up somewhere in the history of the package - I think that you might be interested for some reason - or you maintain a related/similar package Are you interested in adopting this package? Do you know potential adopters? If so, please could you forward them this mail, Ccing the BTS and me? If this only handles bzr merge requests it would probably be good to call the binary package bzr-bundlebuggy or something like that, so that a user can easily identify it as being closely related to bzr. Package: wnpp Severity: normal I request an adopter for the cvsbook package. Due to time constraints and the fact that I little use it today, I would like to give it away. It is a pretty low maintainance package unless you decide to try to package the latest version of it which only comes as an PDF file you would have to convert to something sensible first (see the homepage of the author for the details). I will not sponsor uploads of this package for non-DDs. In this case it would probably easier to do the work myself... Bug#194026: Removing wn?
Hi. I just investigated the orphaned wn package: - It has a (easy fixable) RC bug - It's packaged in the worst form I've ever seen. Some kind of home-breed packaging system. Totally bloated and confusing. - A new upstream version is available: 2.4.6 vs. 2.2.9, seems there were a great number of releases in between - It's orphaned for nearly 300 days without any sign of interest from anyone. - It's configuration is not debconf based, and if you just choose the default answers loops forever. Can we please just remove this one? It needs complete repackaging anyway.
