Bug#400234: ITP: tdmenu -- tdmenu offers a new menu-method for the menu package
Package: wnpp Owner: Michelle Konzack <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Severity: wishlist * Package name: tdmenu Version : 0.2.0 Upstream Author : Michelle Konzack <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/t/tdmenu SRC repository : deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main dget: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/t/tdmenu/tdmenu_0.2.0.dsc * License : Artistic Section : misc Description : tdmenu offers a new menu-method for the menu package and fvwm to beautify the nacked looking menus with icons and sidebars in 33 languages currently. I am using fvwm2 since 7 1/2 years and have beautified all of my menus with sidebars and icons. Now I have considered to add icons and localized Sidebars to the Debian-Menu-System. This was done by heavy rewriting the default /etc/menu-methods/fvwm I do not know, whether other WindowManagers support icons or sidebars but it can added easily at request if I know, how the menus are working. The soucre "tdmenu" create three type of binary packages. 1)tdmenuA meta package which install ALL 2)tdmenu-common Contain the "update-tdmenus" executable and the icons and the default english sidebars. 3)tdmanu- Each package contain a language set since I am sure no one like to install 39 MByte per default. Since I do not wat to do the job twice, the tanslations are taken from the "menu" package (Attention: "ku" is incomplete) With the release 0.2.0 "tdmenu" support following 33 languages: ar be bg ca cs da de el en eo es eu fi fr gl he hr hu id it ja ko ku lt nb ne nl nn pt ru sv tr zh_CN Future releases (depends on my free time) will support the rest of the languages like: dz km pl pt_BR ro sk th tl uk vi wo zh_TW Note for Mentors/Developers: I am not able to create dz (Bhutan) and km (Khmer) since it seems there is a bug in the fontpackages any hints what can I do? And last not least, the package will reach version 1.0.0 if all languages supported by the "menu" package are added. Please note: Some Languages need work since I have not a very big experience with fonts and in some languages they look a little bit ugly. If you like to see font changes in some please let me now, WITH the appropriated Debian font package and the name of the desired font of a size of arround 13-17 (14) pixels. Last note: The package version 0.2.0 is installed on Sarge, Etch and Sid and works (currently) properly without any errors. Font for Khmer is still missing. Since I have gotten the new menu package version 2.1.32 I will update "tdmenu" this weekend to the missing languages. TODO: Add infos on usefull fonts to the readme.DEBIAN file. (For new users it is THE HELL to get the right fonts and the right Debian packages installed) Note: defoma does not recognize all fonts under Sarge and Etch and I have to add manualy "FontPath" lines to the Xorg config plus creating the font.scaled and font.dir files. This behaviour show up since Debian use /usr/share/fonts/truetype and not more /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType. All fonts in the later directory are recognized by X and the WM the new directory only by X-Apps. The lines: FontPath "/usr/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/CID" FontPath "/usr/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/TrueType" do not work (except for X-Apps) but the added ones: FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/alee" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-bitstream-vera" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-arabeyes" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/openoffice" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-bengali-fonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-farsiweb" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-kacst" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-paktype" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/arhangai" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/arphic" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/baekmuk" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-mgopen" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/kochi" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-devanagari-fonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-gujarati-fonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-kannada-fonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-malayalam-fonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-oriya-fonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-punjabi-fonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-tamil-fonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-telugu-fonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-junicode" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-summersby" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/thryomanes" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-tmuni" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/unfonts" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/uralic" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/thai" Which I generate from a script automaticaly Thanks, Greetings and nice Day Michelle Konzack Systemadministrator Tamay Dogan Network Debian GNU/Linux Consultant -- Linux-User #280138 with the Linux Counter, http://counter.li.org/ # Debian GNU/Linux Consultant # Michelle Konzack Apt. 917 ICQ #328449886 50, rue de Soultz MSM LinuxMichi 0033/6/6192519367100 Strasbourg/France IRC #Debian (irc.icq.com) signature.pgp Description: Digital signature
