Seems you're not aware of the way how our pages are being built now.

Pages are being kept in the CVS repository and are made in WML. HTML
pages are being built from WML files. Right now only English part of our
website consist of 8792 files, while whole repository has more than 50k
pages.

Whole infrastructure supports easy internationalisation. Pages are
accessible and readable even from text-based browsers.

Can you achieve it with some CMS?

Debian is about FreeSoftware and not about fancy pages and forums.
There are plenty unofficial forums.

We're trying to build the best free operating system and not the best
webpage.

Well I didn't greped Polish books, but I read rules available at PWN pages.
PWN is rather authoritative institution in the matter of Polish language.

They list other kinds of quotation marks but for electronic publications
they recommend the same as Romanian.

There is no 'Polish' on this list, and Polish quotation marks are wrong.
Both variants. First has wrong inner marks and second has wrong outer
marks.

Polish quotation marks should be the same as Romanian.

Bug#343319: www.debian.org: superflous characters while searching wiki.d.o

2005-12-14 Thread Bartosz Fenski aka fEnIo
Package: www.debian.org
Severity: minor

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello.

Searching wiki.debian.org in non-English language returns some unparsed
html tags. Here's output when searching on English site:

Title Search: "foobar"

0 results of about 3979 pages. (0.10 seconds)

And here's output when I set Polish language in my browser:

Przeszukiwanie tytułów: "foobar"

0 rezultatów z liczby 3979 stron. ( 0.11 sekund. )

Those tags are somehow broken and displayed instead interpreted.

But this explanation should probably be included in developers' reference,

Hello Roman.

I'll write in English and Polish, cause my Czech is to weak to write
anything in it ;)

At the top of this page is explanation of your problem.

Chodzi o to, ze pierwsze CD/DVD byly delikatnie zepsute. Wpis o security

To jest poprawione w wersji 3.1r0a. Oprocz tego nic sie nie zmienilo, wiec

Did you tried to connect to Debian hosts via putty (ssh/telnet)?
That won't work, and I suppose that your instructor didn't mean that.

Also this mailing list isn't aimed at such problems. This is a place where

Try `dpkg -i kdelibs*`

And this is not a proper place to ask such questions. This mailing list is
for people which are handling website of Debian.

You should ask on debian-user or something like that.

Thanks for the report. I've just removed them in CVS so it can take some
time until it will be online.

Speaking about your private mail about installer. Mirrors list is updated
from WWW whenever choose-mirror udeb package is recompiled. So hopefully
this will happen at least one time before release.

Cześć Rafał.

Niezbyt trafnie wybrałeś sobie forum na to pytanie. Lista dyskusyjna

A wracając do Twojej oferty pomocy.

repozytorium z tymi plikami.

I have no idea. I found this better search system when its maintainer ask
on i18n lists for translations.

Don't thank me, but the original author ;)
It is Wesley W. Terpstra and it's mentioned on the bottom of this search
system.

Try this instead:

Polish work_needing page.

2004-09-29 Thread Bartosz Fenski aka fEnIo
Hello.

Could someone tell me what's wrong with Polish translation of the Work
Needing Packages page?

http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/work_needing.pl.html

There's notice that original of this translation doesn't exist anymore.
I have no idea why such header is being added.

Any hints?

That's not typo. Debian's autobuilders are very often called buildd.

Buildd is abbreviation of build daemon.

Wracając do przedstawionego problemu.
http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=184#ProSavageDDR

I think it would be good idea to use capitalized code names *everywhere*,
not only in German translation.

Polish grammar demands writing names (own-names? don't know how to explain
it in English) starting with capitalized letter.

In fact our code names for distributions are names of the toys... names, so
I think they should be written with capitalized letters.

I agree. I for example want to focus on d-i translations at the moment, and
I don't have time to mess up with every single typo in webwml module.
Thus Polish translation losts more and more files due to outdateness.

I think that checking severity of the changes would be proper solution.

Ok that exacly what I've asked for. I wasn't sure if it refers to this
rule with prefix "pre".

I've changed them all.

I've got question. Is this "rule" refers to preformated too?
I mean there are many "preformated" strings in devel/debian-med subdirectory.
I suppose that they should be changed too.

It's described on the following page:

Link to that page is on every page near available languages. at bottom

Seems that pserver access is disabled. I can't get files either from
webwml or debian-boot. Could someone tell me when it will be possible?

Second beta of debian-installer is coming up and I'd like to translate
some messages :/

I don't have ssh access cause I am not DD.

It's whole webwml module I guess.

As you probably know some Debian's servers were compromised. After this
unlucky accident every compromised server was shutdown. Not everything is
working fine since then, because services was moved to replacement,
temporary servers which aren't prepared to support everything in the
same way as main server. Some developers are trying to recover
previous state, but these issues need some time.

It's not human mistake. Debian webpages are generated by special scripts
from CVS repository which unfortunately is down right now so those pages
can't be actualized. Some news have been added manually to provide some
information for users about new release of Debian, but not every place
on site were changed.

Normally when everything (I mean every server) works fine this translations
are made automatically to each supported language. But right now
Debian's pages are provided by its German mirror which isn't configured
to support every foreign language. You've probably noticed that main
menu (this on left side of page) is untranslated too.

Please be patient. Everything should be fine after recover of each Debian's
servers.

Hmm... so why do I have main webpage partially in English and partially
in Polish? Menu on the left side of main page is in English and the rest is
in Polish. I am almost 100% sure that everything is translated in webwml
module. I have set in my Mozilla Firebird the following value:
intl.accept_languages=pl, en-us, en

Before compromise and moving WWW on another server this was working just
fine.

No there aren't. Of course in my opinion. Most of the FFII amendments

Maybe I cite words of member of FFII:
