RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Sorbs delisting
Don, We were recently listed as well. I sent it the ticket like you did and it took almost a week to get a response. I submitted a fairly good explanation and they did de-list me but it did take a while. Over the weekend we got listed in the Sorbs Spam database. When I go to their website and check our IP (216.145.245.98), I see a single spam entry that is from 2006. Through their website, I submitted a ticket requesting more information on why/when we sent spam and asked to be delisted. I get an automated response with a ticket number and then nothing. I emailed them using the ticket number I received and still no response. If we have an issue, we will clean it up but they haven't responded to any requests. Since we are listed in Sorbs, we are now listed in Senderbase. This has been a very frustrating experience. If anyone can offer any suggestions, I would appreciate it. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Need hep - mail server sending out stock reports email
I called Howard on this, but for everyone else's info, if you are seeing this, look for ssm.exe to be a running process. I found this on an Imail server that I administer for another company this morning. The file was showing processing time in the task manager and showed up on the Services list at Security Systems Manager, but the file had a modified date of 2/5/07 and no updated had been done on that server for over a week. Stopping this service stopped the junk messages from going out. Neither F-prot or Symantec showed this file as a virus; however I did submit it to Symantec for analysis. [Declude.JunkMail] Windows 2003 X64 Operating System
We are looking at replacing our current Imail server. I am looking at the choice of the Windows 2003 x64 platform and I am wondering if anyone on this list is running Imail/Declude/Sniffer on that platform? If so have you encountered any problems due to the 64bit architecture? Thank you, Justin --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: Internet Usage - Monitoring and Filtering Apps
We use a Watchguard firewall on our corporate network. http://www.watchguard.com You can use it to log all web browsing activities and there is a web filtering service called web blocker that it uses to block sites based on content. I believe that it uses surf controls databases for the content filtering. You can also manually allow or deny certain sites. The only problem that we have is that it blocks by IP, so once in a while it catches a site that it shouldn't. There is an annual subscription for the web blocker service but it isn't too bad and is defiantly a lot cheaper than a lawsuit. We log web activities based on IP address, but you can also setup authentication on the firewall and log via username as well. It seems we have a lot of goofing off during the work day around here! Therefore, I am looking for recommendations for software (or hardware) based solutions for internet monitoring/filtering in a corporate setting of less than 150 users. Any suggestions? RE: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: Switch to control bandwidth
Matt, This might be a little more than what you need, but we use a product called a NetEnforcer for bandwidth limiting at our shop. There are a lot of other monitoring and accounting features as well. You can find information about them at www.allot.com. This will allow you to rate limit based on IP address, MAC or host name. If you have any questions feel free to contact me off list. It might even be nice to do this on a per-IP basis instead of a per-port basis, though that's not absolutely necessary. Since this is a Web hosting segment and our bandwidth is naturally limited going out, and very little intra-DMZ traffic exists, something that is 10/100 is all that is necessary.
