[Bug 61986] Re: tango icon set
Regarding the first, it's very important that you not replace the about box logo with something that says GAIM. The program is always to be referred to as Gaim or gaim, as outlined in the FAQ. Gaim 2.0.0 has a number of icons from lokheed's previous icon theme. Regarding the specific icons... The Gaim developers are split on the clock vs. notepad icon for away. I don't think it's a good idea to replace the generic Jabber icon with an icon clearly based on the Google Talk icon. The Yahoo icon is even less recognizable than the current one we have in Gaim. I don't like the replacement of the Gaim dude icons wholesale. The status ones incorporate the icon for a web browser, which is really confusing. The dialog ones are nice, but the Gaim Cool icon has been replaced with something that indicates a clear lack of understanding about what that icon is used for. I really with the creator of these icons would've brought them to us for inclusion upstream, but he didn't. I found a previous version from a user's suggestion. As I mentioned, I included many of them upstream. However, the creator of those icons wasn't willing to work with us on changing some icons to meet the developers' requirements. To be fair, I rejected some of them right away without providing reasons (which I intended on getting to later) which set a bad tone. I could detail more issues, which are not as critical, but it's really late here... Regarding the second set... I like some of those better, but I'm not going to detail it. All in all, if you feel there are specific icons in these themes that are better than those in Gaim 2.0.0 now, I'd be willing to look at including them upstream, which seems like a far better thing for everyone involved. I'd really rather not see Ubuntu with different icons (unless their entire desktop theme were to vary a lot from the respective upstream projects). It increases the support costs on both sides, and deprives Gaim users on other distros of nicer icons. -- tango icon set https://launchpad.net/bugs/61986 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 61986] Re: tango icon set
Hi richard, and thanks for your reply. I'm afraid I can't give a solution to many of the issues you're raising, but others shoulb be easily fixable. it's very important that you not replace the about box logo with something that says GAIM. Copying the current logo.png to the new iconset folder would do the job... I'm not sure if we would have to ask the creator for permission to modiffy the theme, though. I don't think it's a good idea to replace the generic Jabber icon with an icon clearly based on the Google Talk icon. That caught my eye, too. There's an icon called jabber_bak wich could be renamed to jabber, much more generic. The Yahoo icon is even less recognizable than the current one we have in Gaim. I have to disagree here, I did find it recognizable. The status ones incorporate the icon for a web browser, which is really confusing. You're right. The status icons should be able to be replaced by dialog ones, they're actually visible when you browse your recent status, watch: http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/7136/1hh1.jpg I don't know how to replace them, though. the Gaim Cool icon has been replaced with something that indicates a clear lack of understanding about what that icon is used for. I'm not even sure what the Gaim Cool icon exactly is, so I might not be the right person to discuss that. Regarding the second set... I like some of those better, but I'm not going to detail it. Both sets seem to go well with each other, would it be possible to take the ones you like from the second and the right ones from the first and create a hybrid set? They don't go well with Gaim's current set tho, thay're much crispier and it wouldn't be a good mix IMO. -- tango icon set https://launchpad.net/bugs/61986 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 61786] Re: [Feature request] 'Create folder in here' type option for nautilus
say if the parent folder that you are browsing is /home/bob/. Bear in mind that you are browsing in list view. If you expand a folder, say 'pictures' within /home/bob/, in this case, for all intents and purposes you are browsing 'pictures'. However nautilus rightly thinks you are still in /home/bob/, so if you go file create folder, a new folder is created in /home/bob/ rather than 'pictures'. So adding another option to the right-click menu, similar to the effect of 'paste into folder', but with the functionality to create a folder within a folder, would make sense in this case, and improve usability. I hope my explanation is clear, though i doubt it. -- [Feature request] 'Create folder in here' type option for nautilus https://launchpad.net/bugs/61786 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: I am using dapper with Gnome and want to do remote logon with XDMCP from a Windows PC by using XMING and this doesnt work everytime. Without local logon on the dapper machine the remote logon fails (partially). Graphical logon and password worked, but the result of the logon is an empty brown background in XMING without nautilus. When I login via putty and SSH and call ps -e I can see a GDM but no nautilus. This happens with dapper 6.06 DVD version. I also make an update to last version via internet last week, so I thing now I have 6.06.01. The problem stay. For setup of remote login I used the graphical gdmsetup (remote...-same as local) I crosschecked the gdm.conf... everything is like I expected but only works with remote XDMCP session if I make a local logon before. [Bug 61446] Re: [2.0 beta3] Crash when receiving transferred file
Ok, I found out how it happens. It works if I accept the message within 5-10 seconds, but if I leave the accept dialog up for too long, it crashes gaim. -- [2.0 beta3] Crash when receiving transferred file https://launchpad.net/bugs/61446 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

i'm glad there is at least a workaround for this. for the mean time i did: sudo vim /usr/local/bin/vmware ... # work around for bug: # https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/59232 LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.3 export LD_PRELOAD ... and saved the file. -- libhal1 0.5.7.1-0ubuntu8 with new dbus breaks vmware https://launchpad.net/bugs/59232 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 62066] Re: gnome-screenshot Save dialog does not show text for the Desktop location
** Description changed: When saving a screenshot, the Save dialog pops up. When showing the list of locations where the screenshot can be saved, the Desktop entry has an icon, but no text (see attachment). - I'm not sure if this should also be reported to human-icon-theme, since - when using a different theme (e.g. Tango), the text is correctly shown. + I've checked this with the Human and Tango themes and the behaviour is + the same. -- gnome-screenshot Save dialog does not show text for the Desktop location https://launchpad.net/bugs/62066 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 61446] Re: [2.0 beta3] Crash when receiving transferred file
Attached is a crash log when running it in debug mode. To repeat the steps for the crash: 1. Ask someone to send you a file. 2. When the file accept/cancel window comes up, just leave it there for 5-10 seconds. 3. Watch it crash. Note: I am running this on Edgy Knot 3 with gaim 2.0 beta3.1, but I know it failed in Dapper and I think Windows too. ** Attachment added: Filetransfer Crash http://librarian.launchpad.net/4415990/gaim_filetransfer_crash_log.txt -- [2.0 beta3] Crash when receiving transferred file https://launchpad.net/bugs/61446 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 58998] Re: Gaim's tabs don't function like in Gedit/Epiphany/Terminal
The gaim tabs are the same height as gedit, however I did notice that 2 pixels are getting cut off of the [x] button on the gaim tabs. I am running gaim2.0beta-3.1 on Edgy Knot 3. I think I recall this problem in Dapper too, however. ** Attachment added: 2 Pixels Cut Off From Close Button In Gaim http://librarian.launchpad.net/4416020/gedit_vs_gaim.png -- Gaim's tabs don't function like in Gedit/Epiphany/Terminal https://launchpad.net/bugs/58998 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 37362] Re: unmount of encrypted volume via menu broken
I am still running Dapper. Yes this is broken for me since upgrading to Dapper. It worked fine in Breezy. Is there any chance of getting this fixed in Dapper, please. Or can someone post a howto/patch to getting the behaviour fixed. I don't think its right to expect people to wait for Edgy, or else upgrade to Edgy at this point, just to have this working properly. -- unmount of encrypted volume via menu broken https://launchpad.net/bugs/37362 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
