[Bug 121951] Adding files to Serpentine doesn't work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: serpentine I tried adding files three ways: 1. By clicking on the + Add toolbar icon. This brings up a file chooser dialog which I used to select the MP3s I want to burn to a CD. Clicking Open didn't result in any change. In fact, after that the dialog is frozen and can only be closed by clicking the title bar X button. 2. By using the Edit-Add menu item. The result were identical to #1. 3. By dragging and dropping the files I wanted onto the Serpentine track listing area. This caused the pointer to change to an arrow-with-a-plus-symbol that led me to believe the operation should work; however, it didn't result in any noticeable change in the application. I tried doing the same procedures one file-at-a-time and also with FLACs as well as MP3s. It looks like this bug makes Serpentine unusable. :( I'm running an up-to-date (x86) gutsy install. ** Affects: serpentine (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Adding files to Serpentine doesn't work + Adding files in Serpentine doesn't work -- Adding files in Serpentine doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121951 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for serpentine in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 118745] Re: default desktop/panel menu font sizes too small
On my system (13 inch MacBook - dual-boot installed w/Boot Camp), this appears to detect the DPI correctly. as being 112 dpi. However, the resulting fonts, when using my display's native 1280x800 resolution, are huge. I think the issue may not necessarily be the wrong DPI being detected - it's that the font is a bad size with the right DPI selected! In the meantime, I've reverted to the Feisty settings (96 dpi, 10 pt font in Gnome), and everything looks normal again. -- default desktop/panel menu font sizes too small https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 119694] Re: Use of more than one desktop crashes panel on boot
M. Bacher: Je m'excuse. To clarify the bug. Let's suppose that we have installed Ubuntu 7.04 and have booted. We now want to have three desktops instead of one. We right-click on the desktop in the lower left hand corner and then click on preferences. On the menu that comes up, we change 'number of desktops' to three. We then close the menu and do some other things without bothering to change desktops--by default we are on the first desktop and now have two more. We close the computer down and then reboot. We now click on desktop three as the first thing we do. The gnome-panel about 50% of the time crashes: we no longer have the lower panel--no desktops, no nothing. Often we even lose the icons on the desktop area. The desktop area is blank. On the upper panel, when we click on 'system' nothing happens. When we click on the upper right hand corner (upper panel) to power down gracefully and restart, nothing happens. Sometimes we even lose the upper panel completely. We are obliged to hard power down the computer (power on/off button) and then reboot. When we do the hard power off, the screen we immediately see before the power off is a log that says that the computer is running the boot-time scripts. I really don't know enough to know if that is significant. Sometimes, however, the whole thing works properly. The problem I have with doing a backtrace and sending the log is how to attach the gdb module to the gnome-panel in such a way that it is automatically attached once the computer is booted, so that I can then replicate the sequence of events that lead to the crash; and how I can be certain to find the log because as soon as the gnome-panel crashes the computer is completely unusable and must be rebooted. [Bug 24280] Re: [Theme Manager] No installation option for system wide themes, difference is not communicated in the user interface
Perhaps you could try not assuming everyone is an idiot. I never said sudo changed the theme, my point was that *from the point of view of the user*, code run through sudo, such as GTK, should act as though it is being run by the session user, not the current GID/UID, for all things except permissions. The purpose of sudo is usually to gain the permissions of another user, not to 'be' that user. So yes GTK should not set the theme based on UID/GID. -- [Theme Manager] No installation option for system wide themes, difference is not communicated in the user interface https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/24280 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a subscriber of a duplicate bug. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 44811] Re: File type / Open with annoyance
I do not think there will ever be a way to include in the distribution any possible mimetype. In these condition, there must be a way for the enduser to control how his files are opened based for example only on the extension (or anything that works for any generic file). At this moment, it is impossible (using only the standard desktop environment) to assign DXF files to be opened with the appropriate application. This is because nautilus tries to outsmart the user in identified almost any non binary file as a pure text file and assign it to be opened with the default texteditor. Trying to change this behaviour by right clicking such a file (a dxf file for example) and assigning another application to handle the file will actually assign any textfile to be opened with the second application, which again is wrong. As long as the user does not have a way to change the behaviour for third party documents/files this is still a bug. (Would you otherwise prefer us to open a bug for ubuntu saying that ubuntu does not include any possible mimetype on earth ? ) It's not right to always try to outsmart the user about what he (the user) wants. A lot of us have bad memories about a certain operating system doing exactly that. Thank you. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- File type / Open with annoyance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/44811 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
