[Bug 323649] Re: Totem Movie Player in Ubuntu 8.10, opening saved Youtube playlists: "Could Not Open Location; you might not have permission to play the file."

2009-03-01 Thread Shawn
I can confirm this bug by simply creating a playlist of YouTube videos
and optionally save it to disk. even if you just leave the list playing
without actually saving it and reopening it later, after some time you
will not be able to play any of the links. I think it might have
something to do with YouTube sessions timing out. because you search for
the same video and add it to the play list, you get a different url.

Maybe a developer or maintainer of the plugin can shed some light on
what might be the reason, but I think youtube links are bound to session
which expire after some time, never to be used again.

I just checked on my desktop, and it seems to be not included already in
intrepid, nothing in the metapackage "ubuntu-desktop" depends on it
directly or indirectly. I assume it is the same in jaunty.

[Bug 336543] [NEW] audio skips on some tracks

2009-03-01 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu/Intrepid
Rhythmbox 0.11.6
GStreamer 0.10.21

Since upgrading to intrepid, I've noticed some of my audio tracks, when
played by rhythmbox, when played 'skip', that is you'll hear audio, then
it'll stop...then it will play, then stop, then play, then stop, maybe
one second at a time or so. Almost like a broken record, really. You
can stop playback, and move to another track just fine, and as far as I
can tell there's no errors anywhere. A minority of my files do this,
I'm making a list of those that do, but it seems to be coming up at a
statistically significant level, and the files are different enough that
it isn't just some freak file being corrupted. Skips ococur with both
rhythmbox & totem-gstreamer

http://thedark.jabberwocky.ca/tiny/9.mp3 is an example, I can provide
others.

It is unlike #139116 in that it is shorter skips. It is like #139116 in
that it might concern longer files. But many of my files seem to be
longer, so that might just be a biased sample. I think I get #139116
symptoms as well, but they are different - longer skips, and the rest of
the file is OK. These, the entire file skips as far as I can tell.

You can strech icons on the desktop by right-clicking them and select
  "strech icon".

You cannot do this in regular folders, this is a bug for two reasons:

  a) if you move such an icon into a regular folder you cannot reset it´s size
  b) i would like to resize icons anywhere

The very same issue: Hardy Heron, Evolution 2.22.3.1.
Always load images option is enabled under HTML prefs, CTRL+I doesn't help at
all. In some mails, some pictures are shown, in others none of them are loaded.

It is very annoying, since email newsletters cannot be read. After
googling this issue, it turns out to be quite an old one, and still not
resolved (?)

[Bug 336488] [NEW] better keyboard support in gnome-display-properties

2009-03-01 Thread Sam Mason
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I'd expect the escape key to perform the same function as pressing the
"Restore the previous configuration" button. It currently appears to
have the same effect as pressing the "Keep this configuration" button.
This seems a little counter intuitive, especially if you can't see the
display to know that it's going to revert in "n" seconds.

[Bug 336485] [NEW] Evince has 'memory' of initial view, makes testing new PDFs difficult

2009-03-01 Thread John Pye
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

When creating PDFs with OpenOffice, I have a need to test them to make
sure that when the PDF opens, it opens on the page I specified, and with
the view optins I specified. Evince scotches my efforts at testing new
PDFs because it remembers the last page/view configuration I used for
that document, even if it has been overwritten in the meantime.

Can I suggest that if a PDF file has changed, Evince should 'forget' its
view settings for that file, and reset them to the settings specified in
the file itself.

Either that, or a new command-line option should be added telling Evince
not to use its 'memory' for previously-seen file.

** Affects: evince (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 200775] Re: Add a percentage does not work

2009-03-01 Thread Mackenzie Morgan
I'm not disputing the invalidity of this, but I just wanted to point out
that while % really does act as a percentage, you're confusing English
and Mathematics. In Mathematics, 17.5% means 17.5/100, so that's 100 +
(17.5/100). If you want to do "100 plus 17.5 per cent of 100" the "of"
is the same as "times" so that's: 100 + 17.5% * 100

See: bug 271891

[Bug 335642] Re: Main menu items deselect by themselves

2009-03-01 Thread Andreas Moog
I can confirm this, except that it happens on all menus if the following
requirements are met:

1. the sub-menu must have items in it
2. the items in the sub-menu must not be active

If these 2 are given, the tag removes itself.

You can try with the (by default deactivated) entries "Debian" and
"Education". They are empty and when tagged remain active. "System
tools" and "Other", both having no active sub-entries, will lose tag
shortly after activation. If you activate sub-entry, the tag will stay.

I'm going to report the issue upstream.

[Bug 329142] Re: import mbox file does not work

2009-03-01 Thread Marcelo Ruiz
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 234875 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234875

I researched a bit more about this problem and I think I found out the reason
for all this confusion:
When trying to import the mbox file following evolution's docs, I tried to
import the generated files (without extension) and in some cases the length of
them was 0 bytes. While importing one of the mbox files generated by
thunderbird I could not see any details about it (that is the bug) and after
selecting the 0 byte length file, I was unable to select the proper format
(which of course doesn't make sense since the file is empty). I used Nautilus
to check the size of another thunderbird-generated mbox file and, after
confirming it was not empty, everything worked as expected.

[Bug 336438] [NEW] Shows very large play time at end of play queue

2009-03-01 Thread Marian Sigler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Always when rhythmbox has finished playing the play queue, it does not
stop to play (in fact one doesn't hear anything, but the play button is
active (pressed) and there are sound waves around the notification area
icon). It claims to play the last song on the list, and as time (when
hovering the notification area icon) it says for example "0:03:20 of
1193046:28:15" (where 3:20 is the actual length of the last song and the
latter time is always the same, 2**32 seconds)

See attachment for a screenshot (unfortunately there is no way to
capture the notification area tooltip)

This just happens since I upgraded to hardy (version 0.11.5-0ubuntu8),
in gutsy this didn't happen (both 32bit systems)

[Bug 37786] Re: Always display the gnome-power-manager icon in the notification area by default

2009-03-01 Thread Brian Curtis
Comment #1 from Richard Hughes (gnome-power-manager developer, points: 18)
2009-03-01 09:32 UTC [reply]

The upstream default is:

  /schemas/apps/gnome-power-manager/ui/icon_policy
  /apps/gnome-power-manager/ui/icon_policy
  gnome-power-manager
  string
  present

When to show the notification icon
Display options for the notification icon. Valid options are
"never", "critical", "charge", "present" and "always".

I guess Ubuntu patch this, so not an upstream bug.

That was from Upstream. This is Ubuntu related and not GNOME

[Bug 336420] [NEW] Jaunty: Gnome 'run a terminal shortcut' does not work anymore

2009-03-01 Thread Scott Zawalski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

When using Gnome in Juanty I have a shortcut bound to ctrl-alt-space to
Run a terminal. This has worked consistently for most of the Jaunty
release cycle. It recently stopped (perhaps in the last 2 or 3 weeks).
Other short cuts like Lock Screen and activate the window menu all work
fine.

I have tried rebinding this to different keys without any luck.

[Bug 336392] [NEW] Calendar navigation with buttons crashes on SIGABRT

2009-03-01 Thread Allen Riddell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution calendar crashes frequently. Most often when I'm navigating to
a new day or when I delete or edit an appointment. I'd say it happens
several times a day, although I've gotten used to it. (It happened far
more often in earlier releases.) Usually I do a --force-shutdown and it
stays ok for a bit. Here's a trace -- happened when I was navigating to
the next month. Thanks for all your work and help!
