Same problem here. Ubuntu 10.10 RC. I have USA and Persian keyboard layouts. I filed a bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/656988 because I was not sure it's a duplicate of this bug. My friends using Arch and Gentoo are also reporting similar problems, so the problem might not be distro-specific. Some people told me this bug has been fixed in Xorg 1.9.2. [Bug 513716] Re: [lucid] battery status not detected/shown until /proc entry viewed
I have the issue where "cat"ing the proc entry for battery state does not help. Fresh install of Lucid on Macbook Pro 5,1. Immediately after install, I saw the battery indicator, and in Power Management options, there was a "On Battery" tab. After a reboot, there was no indicator, and no "On Battery" tab. However, the display still dimmed when I unplugged the power, and brightened when I plugged it back in. I wanted to try laptop-mode instead of the default power-management package (can't remember exactly what it's called, but it gets removed when you install laptop-mode). I installed laptop-mode, rebooted, and both the battery indicator in the notification area, and the "On Battery" tab had reappeared. After another reboot, they were gone again. [Bug 657071] [NEW] text edit area does not have focus on file open
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit After opening a new file from the sidebar, the text editing area does not automatically get focus. This is not exactly a bug per-se, but it is a usability aggravation. For example: when opening a file to edit, one of the most common first tasks is to search for some text. With the current gedit behavior, when I do a ctrl+f, it opens the find file dialog. It would be really nice if it opened the text search dialog. On my old 9.04, 9.10, and 10.04 installs, opening a new file and searching would search the file itself. PS. I love gedit and I use it daily for my dev work. Its the kind of usability bug that would make things much nicer for me if it were fixed.
