[Bug 810894] [NEW] new desktop file in /usr/share/xsessions does not show up in gdm session list
Public bug reported: Going through the docs, I assume that any .desktop file that is found inside /usr/share/xsessions will show up in the GDM login screen as a valid session. However, this is not the case. E.g., I have a stumpwm.desktop file with the following content: [Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Name=StumpWM Comment=This session logs you into StumpWM (a minimalistic window manager) Exec=/usr/local/bin/stumpwm TryExec=/usr/local/bin/stumpwm Icon= Type=Application X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=gdm but I do not see an entry for it in the list of sessions. The same is true if I go to "System -> Administration -> Login Screen" - I don't see all sessions in the list for the default sessions. (I've also tried coping the gnome.desktop file and modify it, but still no luck). The desktop file has the correct file permissions (644) and is owned by root. what's going on here? Do I need to tell GDM to go through this list again? I've tried restarting GDM but no success. This is ubuntu 11.04 btw. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/810894 Title: new desktop file in /usr/share/xsessions does not show up in gdm session list To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/810894/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 698075] Re: Keyboard shortcuts Ctrl-... do not work in many programs
Hi, Pedro! Thank you for your interest in this bug. Yes, it is still an issue with Natty. When the layout order [en, ru] and current layout = ru, then Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V and other shortcuts are working fine. However, When the layout order is reverse [ru, en] and current layout = ru, then Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V and other shortcuts are not working. I have to switch current layout = en to make it work. It was rather annoying actually. For instance, when in clipboard there is some secret and you chat with someone. Then you want to copy-paste something to the correspondent. You press Ctrl-C somewhere (but it didn't work). Then in the chat program you press Ctrl-Ins (which is working) and immediately press enter. Just to see that you've sent something wrong... These days I use [en, ru] layout order which doesn't have this issue. However I have to switch to [ru] everytime (because most of the time I obviously use russian layout). Hope this helps. P.S. I believe this bug could affect more people. But it is difficult to express it in a "google-way" and the workaround is not straightforward. So that people cannot find or discover both the workaround and this bug description. [Bug 801286] Re: audio capplet: device list truncated in input and output tabs
After recent updates ii libgtk-3-0 3.1.8-0ubuntu2 and right now received overlay-scrollbar (0.2.5-0ubuntu1) Thank you. I'd say it's a little better and the initial truncate is fixed. Although, why would it only display one device, I'd expect it displays at least more than one available devices. Assume there will be future requests, such as "where is my device xyz"; just from experience, output devices are crucial to users. Does the field increase itself when there're in case five devices? (as for me there're at the moment two, one is hidden). Actually it doesn't indicate at this state that there are more devices, because it's so small. If it would display just partitial another device, like the hardware tab does, it would indicate to user to scroll further down. Is there a reason why hardware tab is bigger than output tab? ** Attachment added: "audio-output.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/801286/+attachment/2208646/+files/audio-output.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801286 Title: audio capplet: device list truncated in input and output tabs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/801286/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 807107 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/807107 #1) I keep my Oneiric on the bleeding edge, with last update just a couple of hours ago. #2) I honestly don't know; it's only recently been the case that the top menubar hasn't been completely corrupted (and it still is for some reason on my other Oneiric machine). [Bug 697279] Re: Jerky playback of mov file in totem
1080p decoding is very CPU intensive task. It is simply IMPOSSIBLE that it would only use 10% of your CPU. Indeed, I can "reproduce" the problem: my 2,8 GHz CPU is totally saturated and VLC is forced to discard most frames. This is clearly visible with: 'vlc -vv' I guess WMP and Qt use video decoding hardware acceleration from the graphical adapter, and I doubt there is any solution to decoding HD AVC without hardware acceleration.
