[Bug 1079953] [NEW] Main Menu Editor alacarte is Completely Broken in xubuntu 12.10
Public bug reported: Main Menu Editor alacarte is Completely Broken in xubuntu 12.10 SYSTEM: Fresh install of xubuntu 12.10 (i386) using the official xubuntu .iso image, fully updated as of today. The 'Main Menu' editor (alacarte) is completely broken in xubuntu 12.10. Changes in the xubuntu Applications Menu made with alacarte are not effected. For example: -- Ticking/unticking boxes in alacarte does not stick. -- New menu items created with alacarte are not put in place. -- Menu items deleted with alacarte remain in place. -- Moving items from one menu folder to another with alacarte no longer works. -- .desktop files of any menu item opened (with or without (!) change) in alacarte simply accumulate in /home/[user]/.local/share/applications, without further effect. -- sudo alacarte in a terminal no longer works. It appears that alacarte is dependent on an item (gnome-desktop-item- edit) provided by the gnome-panel package which is not not compiled with alacarte and which is not otherwise installed under xubuntu. (See also Launchpad Bug #656735 -- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/656735). However, the full gnome-panel is an alien package under xfce, and it should not be installed under xubuntu as it pulls in a mass of redundant and undesirable non-xfce gnome desktop functionality. (Note: exo-utils for xfce, which provides exo-desktop-item-edit, IS fully installed but this does not resolve the above bugs.) Apart from these bugs, alacarte has limited functionality, it is prone to crashing, and it is awkward to handle. Many of these problems have a very long history and are never properly addressed. It seems better if the alacarte Applications Menu Editor in xubuntu would be replaced as standard (or at least as an option through the (x)ubuntu repos) by LXMenuEditor (http://lxmed.sourceforge.net/). ** Affects: alacarte (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: alacarte editor lxmed menu xubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to alacarte in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079953 Title: Main Menu Editor alacarte is Completely Broken in xubuntu 12.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/1079953/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1079916] [NEW] Cannot add third-party Accounts
Public bug reported: Adding a third party account, such as ones from telepathy-haze, is something I find vital. In 12.04, if I wanted to add an account in Empathy, I could choose any of the accounts supported - whether it was an telepathy plugin, a libpurple plugin through telepathy-haze, or otherwise. Adding a new account type was as simple as installing the libpurple libraries. In 12.10, empathy switched to using the "Online Accounts" program (as far as I know, that's in the gnome-control-center-signon package). With this package, if you want to use anything unsupported with an *explicit plugin for Online Accounst* well, you're out of luck. Please provide an option to allow third party accounts, or at least a simple method of integrating them into Online Accounts. While I'm all for integration and unification, I am against it being used to limit functionality. I require plugins like SIPe for work and my own custom telepathy libraries to function. The loss of this functionality is a serious regression and should be treated as such. Thank you. Detailed info: 1) Ubuntu 12.10 2) a. gnome-control-center-signon version: 0.0.18-0ubuntu1 b. empathy version: 3.6.0.3-0ubuntu1 3) I expected to be able to use third-party libpurple libraries through telepathy-haze and other telepathy libraries created by myself. SIPe is a necessary function for my work. 4) I am limited to the options provided within the "Online Accounts" program within Ubuntu. SIPe can no longer be used as it used to in 12.04. ** Affects: empathy Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gnome-control-center-signon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #688495 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=688495 ** Also affects: empathy via https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=688495 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Also affects: empathy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079916 Title: Cannot add third-party Accounts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/empathy/+bug/1079916/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 75654] Re: deleted songs listed again when using library watch
I think the problem is (unless that is another problem) that Rhymthbox never ever "forgets" what files were once in the directory! I removed my music from the music folder and started RB: all the music was listed. When I pressed play it cycled through the whole list, eventually marking all as missing - but when I restarted RB, there they all were again! I did a complete removal of RB and reinstalled, with the music STILL removed from the source folder. And yet there it all was again. What intrigues me is what exactly does "completely remove including configuration files" mean??? I searched for "rhythmbox" after re- removing and there were over 50 files. I'm a newbie so I have no idea what they do, but I'm assuming some of them remember what once was in the source directory - for ever - and some remember what the source directory was set as. Perhaps I don't understand what a configuration file is, but I would have assumed that this information would be deleted by selecting "completely remove including configuration files". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/75654 Title: deleted songs listed again when using library watch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/75654/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1079667] [NEW] Notifications keep poping when I've read them
Public bug reported: I'm using bip proxy to stay online on IRC even when I'm offline. When I start xchat-gnome, I receive all my backlogs. Each private message or messages where I'm highlighted makes a popup. So if I had like 20 private messages (It's common with nickserv, or someone pasting long text) then they will each popup one after the other during a very long time. Most of the time I've finished to read them in xchat-gnome and while they are still poping one by one... I think bubbles should be removed once the xchat-gnome window gets the focus.
