[Bug 445863] Re: Spell checking doesn't allow US English words when using "English" language

2012-11-16 Thread Paul Buonopane
As of Ubuntu 12.10, the relevant dconf path is
/org/gnome/empathy/conversation/spell-checker-languages. Change the
value to whatever language you want (e.g., "en-US").

[Bug 1079987] [NEW] Bottom panel for plugin widgets is not shown

2012-11-16 Thread RaduStoica
Public bug reported:

I tried creating a plugin that adds a frame to the MAIN_BOTTOM panel,
but it is not shown. Simply changing from MAIN_BOTTOM to MAIN_TOP the
widget location shows the frame.

I've attached a simple plugin to reproduce this problem.

[Bug 1079953] Re: Main Menu Editor alacarte is Completely Broken in xubuntu 12.10

2012-11-16 Thread Jasper St. Pierre
As the upstream maintainer of alacarte, if you have any of these
crashes, I'd love to see them. I do not know of

The editing bug may be caused not respecting $XDG_MENU_PREFIX.

http://git.gnome.org/browse/alacarte/commit/?id=a4db6799f41947b5cd08231e77d41c561d94170a

This commit should fix it. Please try this patch and tell me if it
works.

Replacing the gnome-panel desktop item editor has been on my list for a
little while, but I'm swamped with other tasks so far. I'll try to hack
something up this weekend.

[Bug 1079953] [NEW] Main Menu Editor alacarte is Completely Broken in xubuntu 12.10

2012-11-16 Thread Leo H
Public bug reported:

Main Menu Editor alacarte is Completely Broken in xubuntu 12.10

SYSTEM: Fresh install of xubuntu 12.10 (i386) using the official xubuntu
.iso image, fully updated as of today.

The 'Main Menu' editor (alacarte) is completely broken in xubuntu 12.10.
Changes in the xubuntu Applications Menu made with alacarte are not
effected. For example:

-- Ticking/unticking boxes in alacarte does not stick.
-- New menu items created with alacarte are not put in place.
-- Menu items deleted with alacarte remain in place.
-- Moving items from one menu folder to another with alacarte no longer works.
-- .desktop files of any menu item opened (with or without (!) change) in
alacarte simply accumulate in /home/[user]/.local/share/applications, without
further effect.
-- sudo alacarte in a terminal no longer works.

It appears that alacarte is dependent on an item (gnome-desktop-item-
edit) provided by the gnome-panel package which is not not compiled with
alacarte and which is not otherwise installed under xubuntu. (See also
Launchpad Bug #656735 --
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/656735).
However, the full gnome-panel is an alien package under xfce, and it
should not be installed under xubuntu as it pulls in a mass of redundant
and undesirable non-xfce gnome desktop functionality. (Note: exo-utils
for xfce, which provides exo-desktop-item-edit, IS fully installed but
this does not resolve the above bugs.)

Apart from these bugs, alacarte has limited functionality, it is prone
to crashing, and it is awkward to handle. Many of these problems have a
very long history and are never properly addressed.

It seems better if the alacarte Applications Menu Editor in xubuntu
would be replaced as standard (or at least as an option through the
(x)ubuntu repos) by LXMenuEditor (http://lxmed.sourceforge.net/).

[Bug 1079916] [NEW] Cannot add third-party Accounts

2012-11-16 Thread Kevin
Public bug reported:

Adding a third party account, such as ones from telepathy-haze, is something I
find vital.
In 12.04, if I wanted to add an account in Empathy, I could choose any of the
accounts supported - whether it was an telepathy plugin, a libpurple plugin
through telepathy-haze, or otherwise. Adding a new account type was as simple
as installing the libpurple libraries.
In 12.10, empathy switched to using the "Online Accounts" program (as far as I
know, that's in the gnome-control-center-signon package). With this package, if
you want to use anything unsupported with an *explicit plugin for Online
Accounst* well, you're out of luck.
Please provide an option to allow third party accounts, or at least a simple
method of integrating them into Online Accounts.
While I'm all for integration and unification, I am against it being used to
limit functionality.
I require plugins like SIPe for work and my own custom telepathy libraries to
function. The loss of this functionality is a serious regression and should be
treated as such.
Thank you.

Detailed info:
1) Ubuntu 12.10
2)
 a. gnome-control-center-signon version: 0.0.18-0ubuntu1
 b. empathy version: 3.6.0.3-0ubuntu1
3) I expected to be able to use third-party libpurple libraries through
telepathy-haze and other telepathy libraries created by myself. SIPe is a
necessary function for my work.
4) I am limited to the options provided within the "Online Accounts" program
within Ubuntu. SIPe can no longer be used as it used to in 12.04.

[Bug 1079566] Re: slow by opening local folder

2012-11-16 Thread Turbo
I have this same problem. This was a fresh install if the 32bit desktop
on an atom chip.

I also see this message in the .xsession-errors file:

Nautilus-Share-Message: Called "net usershare info" but it failed: 'net
usershare' returned error 255: net usershare: cannot open usershare directory
/var/lib/samba/usershares. Error No such file or directory
Please ask your system administrator to enable user sharing.

I'm not running Samba, nor do I need to in my pure Linux NFS world.

I fixed the above by creating the directory it wanted, but things are
still slow unless I start nautilus as root.

[Bug 75654] Re: deleted songs listed again when using library watch

2012-11-16 Thread Karim
I think the problem is (unless that is another problem) that Rhymthbox
never ever "forgets" what files were once in the directory! I removed my
music from the music folder and started RB: all the music was listed.
When I pressed play it cycled through the whole list, eventually marking
all as missing - but when I restarted RB, there they all were again! I
did a complete removal of RB and reinstalled, with the music STILL
removed from the source folder. And yet there it all was again. What
intrigues me is what exactly does "completely remove including
configuration files" mean??? I searched for "rhythmbox" after re-
removing and there were over 50 files. I'm a newbie so I have no idea
what they do, but I'm assuming some of them remember what once was in
the source directory - for ever - and some remember what the source
directory was set as. Perhaps I don't understand what a configuration
file is, but I would have assumed that this information would be deleted
by selecting "completely remove including configuration files".

[Bug 1079760] [NEW] device already mounted error at startup when mount point contains space

2012-11-16 Thread pled
Public bug reported:

Since I upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10, I got the following error at
startup :

Error while mounting /Ma Musique - Press S to skip or M for manual
(translated from french, sorry)

Whatever I choose, the device is mounted as expected, without any further
action.
Looking at /var/log/boot.log, I can see (in french, look for /sdb2) :

fsck de util-linux 2.20.1
fsck de util-linux 2.20.1
fsck de util-linux 2.20.1
/dev/sda1 : propre, 305892/3055616 fichiers, 3326813/12207384 blocs
/dev/sdb2 : propre, 8035/7634944 fichiers, 15642229/30517475 blocs
/dev/sda6 : propre, 52062/14778368 fichiers, 9498456/59107143 blocs

/etc/fstab is like below for that device :
#Entry for /dev/sdb2 :
UUID=91e5d5d2-5e50-44df-b052-3640b25885e8   /Ma\040Musique  ext4
defaults 02

Note the "\40" for the space, as it should according to man fstab.
When I change mount point for another one without space, all is fine.
Was working fine since a long time..

[Bug 1041665] Re: gnome-disk-utility is missing palimpsest (renamed to gnome-disks)

2012-11-16 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Ok, that upload fixed the package description. I'm keeping this bug open
because I think "palimpsest" should be added to Keywords so that people
looking for the old name still find it.

Also, we should use http://blog.didrocks.fr/post/Announcing-session-
migration-now-in-ubuntu so that people that have "favorited"
palimpsest.desktop don't have their favorite magically disappear when
they upgrade from Precise.

[Bug 1079683] [NEW] gnome-disks fails to work with filesystems

2012-11-16 Thread josephk
Public bug reported:

gnome-disks fails to delete, add, modify, format partitions or to rewrite
partition table on an esternal drive.

in my case, after a dd command to copy a hybrid iso, I can't modify my
usb stick filesystem layout because of gnome-disks crashing during
operation with (udisks-error-quark, 0) message

gparted works as expected.

I remember that it didn't work in precise pangolin too.
On previous versions it destroyed 2 or 3 times my hd mbr after a simple removal
of a partition.
It looks like an incredibly buggy and extrimely dangerous piece of software..

It could be because we have udsisk and udisk2 installed in parallel.

[Bug 1079667] [NEW] Notifications keep poping when I've read them

2012-11-16 Thread Xavier Claessens
Public bug reported:

I'm using bip proxy to stay online on IRC even when I'm offline. When I
start xchat-gnome, I receive all my backlogs. Each private message or
messages where I'm highlighted makes a popup. So if I had like 20
private messages (It's common with nickserv, or someone pasting long
text) then they will each popup one after the other during a very long
time. Most of the time I've finished to read them in xchat-gnome and
while they are still poping one by one...

I think bubbles should be removed once the xchat-gnome window gets the
focus.

I can use both programs simultaneously with Ubuntu 12.10.

[Bug 658004] Re: brasero dvd capacity estimation is broken

2012-11-16 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Ok, SRUed to raring and quantal-proposed, we can SRU to precise once the
fix is confirmed to work on those series

** Also affects: brasero (Ubuntu Quantal)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: brasero (Ubuntu Quantal)
   Importance: Undecided => Low

** Changed in: brasero (Ubuntu Quantal)
   Status: New => In Progress

** Changed in: brasero (Ubuntu)
   Status: Triaged => Fix Committed

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: brasero
+ Impact:
+ Brasero refuses to write discs when the available space is exactly eqal to
the image to write

- ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso live env.
- GNOME 2.32
- brasero 2.32.0-0ubuntu2
- nautilus 1:2.32.0-0ubuntu1
+ Test Case:
+  - insert a DVD+RW with content
+  - cp /dev/sr0 dvd.iso
+  - check dvd.iso size to be 4,700,372,992 bytes
+  - right click dvd.iso and select Write to Disc...

- Brasero claims an iso file is too large for the disc.
- The inserted disc is a blanked DVD+RW.
- The file is 4,700,372,992 bytes big, which is the official capacity of DVD+RW
discs (as per wikipedia and other sources).
+ The disc should record rather than claim that the image can't fit on the
+ disc

- What I did:
- - insert a DVD+RW with content
- - cp /dev/sr0 dvd.iso
- - check dvd.iso size to be 4,700,372,992 bytes
- - right click dvd.iso and select Write to Disc...
-
- Result:
- The brasero/nautilus dialog claims: The data size is too large for the disc
even with the overburn option.
+ Regression potential:
+ Check that the disc records are valid
