[Bug 1683215] [NEW] Text documents not initialized correctly
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 17.04 there were no entries for creating text documents when right-clicking on desktop. Found an article that gave information to configure something and then the text document link would appear. Did what was instructed and the link, for creating the text document, appeared when right-clicking on desktop or in nautilus. However... the text document is created as a filled page with the background of the desktop image. Cannot delete or create "new" blank image for purposes of writing text. Also noticed that for existing text documents, that painting of the contents is blurred and messed up. Something is really wrong with the application that supports text documents on Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty). [Bug 1636620] Re: no wallpaper when compositing manager disabled
All I can say is that it is not Metacity bug. It is bug in nautilus... https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=e1649a30606d0c9906510f1e9b3fbf545979823b With upstream nautilus 3.24.0 background should work also without compositing manager because I patched nautilus to draw background in that case. But if I am not wrong zesty does not have 3.24 version of nautilus... "However, when turning compositing on or off, the proper root window background can be seen for a split second." This most likely is problem with ubuntu patches, because upstream nautilus for long time draws / use transparent desktop window and metacity does use background set on root window. If possible try to use newer nautilus version - 3.24.x. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1636620 Title: no wallpaper when compositing manager disabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1636620/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
