If I start the printer setup dialog by sudo gnome-cups-manager, then changes to the printer options are preserved (and shown in the Properties dialog of the printer). If I change a setting in gnome-cups-manager (started from the menu), the file ~/.lpoptions is deleted. I don't think that this is the intended behavior.
