[Bug 605829] Re: metacity causing Xorg to hammer the CPU with a focus-request having timestamp of 0
I have 2 very similar setups of 10.4. One laptop with i915 driver and a desktop with nvidia driver and dual screen (xinerama). Both setups have (almost) identical set of panels and gnome applets. The only difference is an extra panel with "window list" applet in the second screen on the desktop box. My laptop runs smoothly and this bug is non existed. On the desktop box, I have to set focus mode to "click" or else .xsession- errors floods with above warnings and cpu load goes up. AFAIK, it only affects gnome-terminal when using sloppy focus. [Bug 538612] Re: cursor blinks even when terminal doesn't have focus
This is a valid bug. I have upgraded lucid to the latest updates. In a screen with 10 gnome-terminal windows, a random half of them have a blinking cursor. [Bug 220555] [NEW] [hardy] amsn does not "blink" / "flash" on new messages with metacity on hardy
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity Normally, using aMSN or anyother IM client, when a message arrives there is some sort of notification. Using metacity in hardy, this notification started to not work at all. There is no "flashing" or "blinking" of the task bar at all, its like no notification exists. This issue did not exist in metacity - gutsy version, only on hardy. I have done more testing, and if using compiz as a window manager, flashing is back on the task bar. Steps to reproduce: 1) On latest gnome - hardy and using metacity, install amsn from the repositories\ 2) Log in an have a friend talk to you and count from 1 to 20. 3) Minimize the contact window while your contact is talking 4) ---> The task bar 'entry' of the minimised contact window does NOT blink. 5) run compiz --replace to enable compiz window manager 6) ---> Blinking / flashing works. 7) run metacity --replace now 8) ---> Blinking stops again. In kde3 and kde4, blinking works like usual, the issue is specific to metacity in gnome.
