We are closing this bug report as it lacks the information, described in the previous comments, we need to investigate the problem further. However, please reopen it if you can give us the missing information and don't hesitate to submit bug reports in the future. ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- mounting an sftp volume ignores specified directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 212279] Re: mounting an sftp volume ignores specified directory
Also happens to me, both when mounting through Nautilus and gvfs-mount, the link that appears on the Desktop and the mounted folder at ~/.gvfs is invariably the remote root. This is just a nuisance with my local MythTV server, but some servers do not allow access to root, so this issue could become more important. -- mounting an sftp volume ignores specified directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 212279] Re: mounting an sftp volume ignores specified directory
I experience the same problem. Tried to mount from a newly created local user account to check if that solved the problem, but it didn't. Hardy was originally installed as Alpha5, but up to date as of today. -- mounting an sftp volume ignores specified directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 212279] Re: mounting an sftp volume ignores specified directory
That is weird because user settings should not change the browsing behaviour. Could you try to figure what setting is triggering the bug? -- mounting an sftp volume ignores specified directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

And testing on a new user confirmed this, as it works fine there. This bug should be closed then, probably, unless it turns out this configuration error is a bug in a package. -- mounting an sftp volume ignores specified directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

It is possible that is related to this bug, of course. 5. Open the connection from the places menu. The menu entry does not mention a directory, only the server name. The remote / is opened in Nautilus, regardless of the directory given when creating the connection. > Do you have the issue on any ssh server? With all the servers I've tried, yes. They're all some kind of Linux servers, but I don't really think the problem is at that end. (By the way, this Hardy was installed from an alpha image, I believe. It is of course possible that left some configuration cruft.) Thank you for your bug report. Not confirming, that works correctly on my hardy installation. Could you describe the exact steps you are using?
