[Bug 212279] Re: mounting an sftp volume ignores specified directory

2008-04-13 Thread Habbit
Also happens to me, both when mounting through Nautilus and gvfs-mount,
the link that appears on the Desktop and the mounted folder at ~/.gvfs
is invariably the remote root. This is just a nuisance with my local
MythTV server, but some servers do not allow access to root, so this
issue could become more important.

I experience the same problem.

Tried to mount from a newly created local user account to check if that
solved the problem, but it didn't.

Hardy was originally installed as Alpha5, but up to date as of today.

That is weird because user settings should not change the browsing
behaviour. Could you try to figure what setting is triggering the bug?

And testing on a new user confirmed this, as it works fine there. This
bug should be closed then, probably, unless it turns out this
configuration error is a bug in a package.

1. Open the connection panel from the places menu.
2. Change connection type to SSH.
3. Enter server address and path. Also entering the username doesn't
   seem to have an effect.
4. Press connect.

At this point, VLC opens, as per bug #209915. It is possible that is
related to this bug, of course.

5. Open the connection from the places menu. The menu entry does not
mention a directory, only the server name. The remote / is opened in
Nautilus, regardless of the directory given when creating the
connection.

With all the servers I've tried, yes. They're all some kind of Linux
servers, but I don't really think the problem is at that end.

(By the way, this Hardy was installed from an alpha image, I believe. It
is of course possible that left some configuration cruft.)

Thank you.

Thank you for your bug report. Not confirming, that works correctly on
my hardy installation. Could you describe the exact steps you are using?
Do you have the issue on any ssh server?
