[Bug 750740] Re: MacbookPro keyboard backlight toggle button not functional
Still buggy in 12.10 - the media-keys plugin does not pass toggle events to the power plugin. The attached patch against the upstream git HEAD also works in Ubuntu; I tested it with g-s-d 3.4.2-0ubuntu8 ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #682564 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=682564 ** Also affects: gnome-power via https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=682564 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Patch added: "0001-Pass-keyboard-brightness-toggle-event-to-the-power-p.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-power/+bug/750740/+attachment/3273903/+files/0001-Pass-keyboard-brightness-toggle-event-to-the-power-p.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/750740 Title: MacbookPro keyboard backlight toggle button not functional To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-power/+bug/750740/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 750740] Re: MacbookPro keyboard backlight toggle button not functional
Still broken in 11.10, though broken in a different way. In 11.10 the backlight toggle behaves the same as the adjacent 'backlight brightness down' button. It should toggle the backlight on/off, not decrease the backlight brightness incrementally. ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Confirmed ** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric ** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager My MacbookPro 3,1 has a keyboard backlight toggle button (F8) in addition to the keyboard backlight up/down buttons (F9/F10). The keyboard backlight up/down buttons correctly adjust the keyboard backlight and display a notification, but the toggle button doesn't. Do we need to handle GPM_BUTTON_KBD_BRIGHT_TOGGLE in addition to GPM_BUTTON_KBD_BRIGHT_[UP,DOWN] in the key-handling code in gpm- backlight-kbd.c?
