This bug was fixed in the package gdm - 2.30.0-0ubuntu2 --- gdm (2.30.0-0ubuntu2) lucid; urgency=low * 33-multi-keyboard-layouts.patch: Work around strange libxklavier behaviour (which returns NULL for empty variants, but does not accept NULL when setting a configuration). This fixes broken variant setting in some cases.
