[Bug 189814] Re: [hardy]computer and touchpad is buggy when running on battery
With the heat of these last days it seems to happen even more. Kernel parameters did not solve the issue. Yesterday I also uncovered something. I was watching a video on youtybe and had the screensaver coming in every minute, so I touched the touchpad everytime the screen started to go black. This mostly resulted in a few second of audio looping and gui freeze. Interesting is that it happened with the touchpad, the "touchpoint" and the keyboard itself. So it is not specific to touchpads or the tiny blue "touch point", but also can be triggered by the keyboard. Can also someone CC dell on this bug? PS happened a total of three times during writing of this and crashed my laptop around 3 times a week since hardy installation, so how about setting priority to high? If it does not get solved I will have to switch distro... -- [hardy]computer and touchpad is buggy when running on battery https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189814 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Alleluja! There is a plugin which does not require patches to rhythmbox itself! My bad I didn't get it... [Bug 243895] [NEW] Firefox 3 and gvfs-open
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gvfs-bin In Ubuntu 7.10 there was Firefox 2 web browser. By default it did not open downloaded files in application which I associated that filetype with in Nautilus. To make firefox respect Nautilus associations, I added directive "network.protocol-handler.app.file gnome-open" in about:config dialog. This solved the problem. In Ubuntu 8.04 I have the same problem. I added directive "network.protocol-handler.app.file gvfs-open" in about:config dialog, but this does not solve my problem. Firefox opens downloaded file in different application, then set in nautilus. I tried to replace gnome-open and xdg-open by gvfs-open symlink in /usr/bin. But problem is still there. It is unplesant for my users to set their favourite application in nautilus and see that firefox and thunderbird ignore it. [Bug 243855] Re: Having an item in search field and switching to week view in calendar can cause crash sometimes
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. The menu entries for creating new documents or folders were greyed out, so I had to log in via terminal and create the folder with the mkdir command. [Bug 243942] [NEW] Nautilus doesn't update title and address bar when clicking twice on open parent folder button
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Hello, I realized that when clicking twice on the "open parent folder"-button (the up-arrow) really fast (faster than normal double-click), an inconsitency arises: The folder displayed in the big window is the grand parent of the folder I started the action with. This is what I expected Nautilus to do, since I hit the appropriate button twice. But the address bar shows the path to the parent folder, that is one level above the first folder, not two. In addition, the title bar of nautilus displays the name of this parent folder, not the grand parent. Now I am not able to open this parent folder by double-clicking on it in the big window. This error can be reproduced from any folder that has a grand parent folder. This bug might be somewhat similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/226223 I am running Ubuntu 8.04.1. The attached picture shows the inconsistency: Title and address bar indicate the folder is /home/jvitense/Dokumente, but the big window shows the contents of /home/jvitense/ Note that a double-click on the folder "Dokumente" does not work. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nautilus doesn't update title and address bar when clicking twice on open parent folder button https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/243942 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 243950] [NEW] Nautilus cannot create folders via context menu if scrollbar present
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Whenever there is a vertical scrollbar on the right side of the nautilus file browser, there seems to be no way to create a new folder. Without scrollbar I can just right-click on the empty background area and and get a context menu to create a folder (German: "Ordner anlegen"). But in case of a vertical scrollbar, there is no empty background area! Suggestion: Add at least one line of space behind the last line in the scroll view! Public bug reported: When compiling mc 4.6.2 with a visible whitespace feature there's a bug in vte that causes cursor to disappear. There's no cursor disappearance in xterm or konsole. [Bug 124315] Re: remember window position of applications
Metacity won't fix this because: 1) it's not a window manager issue; applications ought to be responsible enough to create their windows where they want them; 2) it violates separation of concerns; there can be a separate process (such as devilspie) which moves a user's windows around to their heart's content (the difficulty of configuring devilspie itself is not a counterargument to this); 3) it's near-impossible to do well in the window manager anyway, since we don't have any good way in X of recognising that the new window is somehow "the same window" as the old window.
