[Bug 1789749] Re: Virtual desktops are shown in the middle of screen in GNOME Shell
It seems I didn't do a good explanation. With the "I think is a general bug" sentence I tried to say that it doesn't mind the GPU configuration. I don't see the same flaw in Fedora 28, that uses the same version of GNOME. The only thing you have to do to reproduce the bug is to "smack" the top left corner with a file, dragging it with mouse cursor, in gnome-session of activating the hot corner with tweak tools y Ubuntu session. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789749 Title: Virtual desktops are shown in the middle of screen in GNOME Shell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1789749/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1790010] [NEW] Default cursor size over dock after login
Public bug reported: Dock, dash and top bar do not respect cursor size setting from "Settings" (gnome-control-center) straight after login. Occurring in Ubuntu 18.04.1, on two machines. Expected behaviour: cursor size set to medium (32px) or large (48px?) should remain consistent between windows, desktop and dock/dash/top bar. Observed behaviour: cursor shrinks to default (24px) when hovering over dock/dash/top bar. If the cursor state changes (e.g. to loading spin wheel) the cursor fixes itself. Not sure whether it is a bug in GNOME or the shell extension. Sizes set using "gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-size 32" and "gsettings set com.ubuntu.user-interface.desktop cursor-size 32" exhibit the same behaviour. [Bug 1789922] Re: Resize is broken
Actually it looks like it's gnome-disk-utility that does the unmount and throws the error. I can't for the life of me figure out this rat nest of code though. In gduresizedialog.c, resize() calls gdu_utils_ensure_unused() and passes it unmount_cb(), which appears to be what is throwing that error message after the unmount fails. What I can't see is where the actual unmount is done. gdu_utils_ensure_unused() appears to call g_task_new to set up a task to invoke that callback after the task itself as run, but I see no call to g_task_run_in_thread() which would actually specify the task function to run, and make it run. ** Package changed: udisks2 (Ubuntu) => gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789922 Title: Resize is broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1789922/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

** Description changed: Hi, for a moment now, I noticed on Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 that Ubuntu Software only show snap app's. Problem : there is no easy to read « label » or « warning » regarding snap, and how they can be « configured ». Consequence : many users and not only beginners ask help on forums because their FireFox or Gimp can't access such folder, such partition, such usb key, because they can't find config' files in usual place, because such app launches slowly, other looks out of place, other is not localized in their language, and so on… What I may expect : - enable / disable snap listing, - when snap app shown : the word snap bold in its name or a label or a flashy header that leads to advices about how to correctly set and use snap, - - by default, disable snap in LTS version. + - by default, disable snap in LTS version ( where apt/deb and official repositories sound careful ), + - or give priority to legacy packaging and show snap only when nothing else available for such app. + + I consider this as a bug because it gets many users « lost » with a not + so good experience with common and often already known and loved + softwares. + + I know snap keeps improving but they may not provide the same reliable + and predictable experience as « legacy » packaging - hence the LTS note. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789943 Title: Ubuntu Software only show snap app's wiithout any explanations or advices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1789943/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I agree ! Canonical should not impose snap, this should remain a secondary alternative that should not be prioritized over classic apt repositories. A snap should only appear if there is no alternative! [Bug 1789943] [NEW] Ubuntu Software only show snap app's wiithout any explanations or advices
Public bug reported: Hi, for a moment now, I noticed on Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 that Ubuntu Software only show snap app's. Problem : there is no easy to read « label » or « warning » regarding snap, and how they can be « configured ». Consequence : many users and not only beginners ask help on forums because their FireFox or Gimp can't access such folder, such partition, such usb key, because they can't find config' files in usual place, because such app launches slowly, other looks out of place, other is not localized in their language, and so on… What I may expect : - enable / disable snap listing, - when snap app shown : the word snap bold in its name or a label or a flashy header that leads to advices about how to correctly set and use snap, - by default, disable snap in LTS version ( where apt/deb and official repositories sound careful ), - or give priority to legacy packaging and show snap only when nothing else available for such app. I consider this as a bug because it gets many users « lost » with a not so good experience with common and often already known and loved softwares. I know snap keeps improving but they may not provide the same reliable and predictable experience as « legacy » packaging - hence the LTS note. ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789943 Title: Ubuntu Software only show snap app's wiithout any explanations or advices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1789943/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1720213] Re: Word moving with left-arrow-ctrl broken in wayland
I don't think this bug is valid. If somekey++Ctrl works the same as Ctrl+somekey in Xorg then that's interesting, but not normal recommended behavior. Your should always be holding the modifier (Ctrl) first. So this bug is being marked as "Opinion". [Bug 1789749] Re: Virtual desktops are shown in the middle of screen in GNOME Shell
** Description changed: + https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/issues/285 + + --- + Hi, since I use Ubuntu 18.04 with GNOME Shell I see that the virtual desktops panel is shown in the middle of screen when I drag a file to the Activities corner. I didn't see this behavior in 17.10, so it's really strange for me. I really like gnome-session, but I drag a lot of files through Activities, so to not see the bug I'm forced to use the Ubuntu session (now communitheme). Yes, it's really annoying. I share a file to show how is the bug. I'm using: -Ubuntu 18.04 64-bit. -GNOME 3.28.2 (provided by official repos). -Linux 4.15.0-33-generic (but I saw the bug in all previous kernels released Ubuntu 18.04). I saw the bug in two different GPUs: -[AMD/ATI] RV630/M76 [Mobility Radeon HD 2600] with Mesa and free Radeon driver provided by official repos. -MSI NVIDIA GTX 1050 with official proprietary driver. I think is a general bug. ** Tags added: cosmic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789749 Title: Virtual desktops are shown in the middle of screen in GNOME Shell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1789749/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1789962] Re: gnome-shell segfaults in Wayland when display is turned off while Kodi running
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789962 Title: gnome-shell segfaults in Wayland when display is turned off while Kodi running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1789962/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1787362] Re: gnome-shell UI unresponsive
I experience very similar situation. 1. I have only one active Gnome Shell extension: "Disable Gestures" which gives me a desirable feature - to disable all multi-finger touch screen gestures. I just disabled it to see if that will resolve the issue. 2. Indeed, I found that sometimes clicking on app windows is affected, but the shell panel - not. 3. I have not tried Xorg sessions while this occurs. I will on next occasion. $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available.
