Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Not sure why the bug was switched from empathy to telepathy-gabble. As mentioned in the mailing list, Gabble now loads certificates. What is this bug about? Is empathy still not loading the internal certificates? Or are you referring to same issue of Bug #480791 ? [Bug 540826] Re: Rename Suspend to Sleep
From dup Bug #661383 Outside discussions of whether suspend should be called sleep or sleep should be called suspend, there needs to be consistency. Specifically in Power Management Preferences, both words sleep and suspend are used and mean the same thing. Under Actions is Put computer to sleep when inactive for: while the drop-down selection boxes have Suspend as an option. Both of these links are worth noting: http://live.gnome.org/GnomePowerManager/SleepNames https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2006-May/017718.html ** Description changed: In the Power Menu, Suspend should be renamed to Sleep because sleep falls on a continuum with hibernation/Hibernate, and sleep is a more intuitive term for new users (you can verify this by asking ten people who have not used Ubuntu what it means to suspend a computer, then ask another ten people who have not used Ubuntu what it means to sleep a computer). + + - + + Specifically in Power Management Preferences, both words sleep and + suspend are used and mean the same thing. [Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult [please no more comments; patches welcome]
** Description changed: + + * + No more comments needed + + This should mostly be fixed for Natty and might get backported to earlier releases as well. + * + Binary package hint: metacity - The issue has been an issue for users (especially of large) screens for several releases - - Trackpad users seem to be particularly impacted by this - - The issue appears to have been significantly aggravated in Lucid by changing the border width from 3 pixels to 1 pixel + - Trackpad users seem to be particularly impacted by this- The issue appears to have been significantly aggravated in Lucid by changing the border width from 3 pixels to 1 pixel The window borders in metacity are far too thin to be used for comfortable window resizing, and resize handles are not available in all applications (or even most). In fact, of all the windows I have open right now, not a single one of them has a resize handle. The result is that I get a lot of misses when I try to drag a window border, which usually results in my clicking on the wrong window altogether. The best fix for this usability bug is to create an invisible region around each non-maximized window about 4px thick that can be used for resizing (in addition to the visible border). Or perhaps there should be a border thickness option on the System Preferences Windows dialog (although the default thickness should still be increased considerably). Ideally all windows would also have a resize handle but I realize that these have to be application controlled (at least that seems to be the position of the metacity team). + + * + Blueprint for Natty: + https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/packageselection-dx-n-resizing-windows + + Work items + 1 * Make sure the new resize grip fits in current applications; doesn't interfere with anything. This is not a bug and not something we are going to change in Ubuntu or in Upstream GNOME, for more detailed info kindly read : http://blogs.gnome.org/mccann/2009/08/08/whatchamacallit/ In short, Even though GNOME is built from several individual apps, the user should not be made to feel that these are separate, it's just that we want the apps to be part of the OS and a unified user experience. [Bug 105685] Re: Totem's menu entry should read Totem Movie Player
Just to be clear, in case people have not read that blog or the links in it. Its not just plain removing the app brand name. It's also about giving the right app brand name which user can better identify with. Displaying just totem makes no sense of it being a movie player. Most of the bugs are being fixed https://live.gnome.org/GnomeGoals/CorrectDesktopFiles If they are not fixed then we need to file bugs in individual apps mainly in GNOME/relevant bugzillas. Now, this takes effect in Shell, this probably makes it also a bug in Unity which is still depending on the panel naming specs and since it is not looking at the right name field. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to totem in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105685 Title: Totem's menu entry should read Totem Movie Player -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. - Closing papercut task , we already increased the limit to 8 bookmarks. Making it configurable is a feature request and not a papercut For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut. [Bug 432559] Re: There is not an obvious way to close the nautilus search
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of this project. - Fixing this is not going to be as simple as it seems , it needs a complete re-write of search , not a papercut task For further information about papercuts criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut. Don't worry though, this bug has been marked as Invalid only in the papercuts project. ** Changed in: hundredpapercuts Status: Triaged = Invalid -- There is not an obvious way to close the nautilus search https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/432559 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
