After some tests, polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 does not start if
/proc is mounted with option hidepid=1 or hidepid=2.

I was able to reproduce the problem, but only using the flash plugin:

I also tried the java plugin, but it does not use /dev/shm (it fails,
but for another reason):

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1495248] [NEW] usr.bin.firefox blocks /dev/shm

Public bug reported:

When apparmor is activated for Firefox, I get the following log
messages:

Both /run/shm/shmfd-* and /var/run/shm/shmfd-* are allowed, but not

Title:
  pm-utils reset the vm.dirty_ratio and vm.dirty_background_bytes
  variables

Status in pm-utils package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
On a desktop system, on AC power, pm-utils reset the vm.dirty_ratio
  and vm.dirty_background_ratio at boot time.

When setting these variables using sysctl.conf, they are silently
reset by the /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/laptop-mode script shipped with
  pm-utils.

The only way to give specific values to these variables using sysctl
  is to remove this script.

Title:

Status in “speech-dispatcher” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:

If you use spd-say or a speech dispatcher enabled application with

  permissions.

If you try to use spd-say with a different user, it will then fail,
failing to access the /tmp/pico.wav file.

A solution would be to create a temporary file per user ID:

$VOICE \'$DATA\' $PLAY_COMMAND $TMPDIR/pico-$USERID.wav

I did some additional tests. This does not work in all cases.

If I switch to root with a sudo su -, XDG_RUNTIME_DIR is not defined.

Bug description:
New administrative user accounts created with users-admin aren't
added to the sudo group. Prior versions added administrative users to
the admin group (which no longer exists in 12.04) rather than the sudo
group, which had the same effect in granting sudo permissions. This
means that so-called administrative accounts cannot perform
administrative tasks without first being manually added to /etc/group.

If a new administrative account is created and the account that was
created during installation is deleted, the user is effectively
permanently unable to perform any kind of administrative tasks.
