[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1450839] [NEW] ENABLE_DAEMON=0 doesn't work
Public bug reported: The init script defines start_daemon. So does /lib/lsb/init-functions, included before the script's version. Consequently the new definition is unused, so ENABLE_DAEMON=0 has no effect. ** Affects: transmission (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: vivid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to transmission in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1450839 Title: ENABLE_DAEMON=0 doesn't work Status in transmission package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The init script defines start_daemon. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1058518] Re: package transmission-daemon 2.51-0ubuntu1.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 255
+1 for what @saviq has mentioned in #10 - I see exactly the same behaviour. ENABLE_DAEMON = 0 causes upgrade to fail. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to transmission in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1058518 Title: package transmission-daemon 2.51-0ubuntu1.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 255 Status in “transmission” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Setting up transmission-daemon (2.51-0ubuntu1.1) ... * Starting bittorrent daemon transmission-daemon invoke-rc.d: initscript transmission-daemon, action start failed. dpkg: error processing transmission-daemon (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 255 Errors were encountered while processing: transmission-daemon E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) root@htpc:~# ps -ef | grep transmission root 5051 4280 0 09:21 pts/100:00:00 grep --color=auto transmission root@htpc:~# /etc/init.d/transmission-daemon status * transmission-daemon is not running root@htpc:~# /etc/init.d/transmission-daemon start * Starting bittorrent daemon transmission-daemon root@htpc:~# ps -ef | grep transmission root 5112 4280 0 09:22 pts/100:00:00 grep --color=auto transmission root@htpc:~# ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: transmission-daemon 2.51-0ubuntu1.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-31.50-generic 3.2.28 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-31-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu13 AptOrdering: transmission-daemon: Configure Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Sep 29 09:17:27 2012 ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 255 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Release amd64 (20120424.1) SourcePackage: transmission Title: package transmission-daemon 2.51-0ubuntu1.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 255 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) mtime.conffile..etc.init.d.transmission.daemon: 2012-08-12T15:54:17.190882 mtime.conffile..etc.transmission.daemon.settings.json: 2012-08-12T16:01:02.678904 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/transmission/+bug/1058518/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
