Looks like it the crash has been prevented, at least in 450.66 from Ubuntu repository, 20.04.1. But the cursor size setting looks limited now : If I use Setting GUI and go to the Universal Access > Cursor Size setting, I’m displayed five cursors to choose from. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1878105 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878105 The crash does not occur anymore, at least with 450.66 from Ubuntu repository. As soon as I did this the desktop froze and eventually turned black. I could ssh in and would see the Xorg process consuming 100% cpu (per top). After killing -9 that Xorg process, and resetting dconf reset /org/gnome/desktop/interface/cursor-size I could log in to a new session. This seems reproducible, i.e. setting up pointer size again would give me the same symptoms. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1879625] Re: [Precision 5530, Realtek ALC3266] No sound after reboot until headphones are unplugged and plugged back in
Hi @hui.wang, thanks for your interest. AFAIU, the bug I report is the opposite of #1876065. In my case, it always works when I plug in the headphones after unplugging them. The reported bug very looks like https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1442428 which was, I presume, caused by another root cause as it has been fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1879625 Title: [Precision 5530, Realtek ALC3266] No sound after reboot until headphones are unplugged and plugged back in Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Looks like a frequent problem that hits my system : I have no sound on my headphones after I reboot my laptop until I unplug and plug back in the headphones. Using it with 200% zoom makes xorg crash. I have used proprietary 430, and changed to recommended proprietary 435 nvidia driver. As the system was still very unstable (no to say unusable) I had a go with 440 from ppa. I also ensured that my system was up to date doing a sudo apt-get update and upgrade. I was suprised to discover a few packages that needed an upgrade although I had previously used the Software Updater tool. Maybe I was doing something wrong. Anyway, with these updates and the newer 440 driver, I have successfully worked a day (sparsely) without problem, and using only 100% zoom. As a test, I decided to try to set the zoom to 200% (through devices > display, and I have only the external display enabled). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1868396] Re: crashes or freezes with nividia/xorg
FWIW, I have no crash selecting « Nouveau » driver for nvidia GPU. But doing so, I'm unable to configure correctly opengl in a chroot from where I launch graphical tools in a Jessie. I can with the NVDIA installer. Bug set back to « New » as I've completed it the most I could. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1868396 Title: crashes or freezes with nividia/xorg Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have plugged in my Dell precision 5530 laptop a 4k HDMI screen. This bug drove me batty until I found this. Making a Nextcloud appliance with Ubuntu Server 16.04 as the OS and I couldn't install a gui. Tried xfce, lxde, and lxqt to no avail. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1242874] [NEW] Network Monitor Widget does not show any tap0 traffic
Public bug reported: Fresh install of Kubuntu 13.10 64bit. This bug is for the Network Monitor Widget which I think is part of plasma-widgets- workspace-4:4.11.2-0ubuntu1. Expected: tap0 traffic to show in the graph when traffic is going back and forth in my vpn connection. The graphs for eth0 and wlan0 did have traffic shown. Tested the vpn connection with both. What Happened: Zero KiB/s is shown no matter what for tap0. Notes: -Possibly related to bug #1242861 -Traffic was going back and forth on the tap0 connection, verified with ifconfig.
