[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1272740] Re: [System76 Lemur UltraThin 2] On Resume of Notebook Cursor No Longer Moves
** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1272740 Title: [System76 Lemur UltraThin 2] On Resume of Notebook Cursor No Longer Moves Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: The bug basically makes the cursor useless. Upon resuming the computer, the cursor no longer moves in the x/y planes on the screen. The TouchPad does seem to respond to some events still as I can use it to scroll up/down on a focused window like Firefox. I can also use the left/right click buttons and those seem to work as expected given the right context. I can still use the keyboard to navigate and do things, I usually end up restarting the computer to quickly reset from the bug. In case my Notebooks model isn't in the attached information, this is a System76 Lemur Model 2. I'm using Kubuntu 13.10 64 bit release. The version of xorg package installed is: 1:7.7+1ubuntu6 Also, I have time and am able to help with debugging this if I can help. Steps To Reproduce: I put computer to sleep from the KMenu. I waiit a few moments and then log back in with keyboard after resuming. Does not happen on every sleep. Almost guaranteed to occur after about 5 or 6 tries. I didn't notice this on previous editions of Kubuntu. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1272740] Re: [System76 Lemur UltraThin 2] On Resume of Notebook Cursor No Longer Moves
I can't say I've formally tested for this particular bug on anything except 13.10 and 14.04 that I just did the other day. I have been using the notebook continuously since 10.10 I believe and update to the latest roughly 1-2 months after each release. This is the first time I see the bug. I hope that's clearer. I'm fairly sure it was only introduced in 13.10, I may reinstall a 13.04 disc soonish to confirm my hypothesis. To summarize in table form: 10.10 - 13.04 - Pretty sure this bug doesn't present. Though not formally tested, just by memory. 13.10 - Has bug. 14.04 - Too unstable to test. Will try again later. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1272740 Title: [System76 Lemur UltraThin 2] On Resume of Notebook Cursor No Longer Moves Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The bug basically makes the cursor useless. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1272740] Re: [System76 Lemur UltraThin 2] On Resume of Notebook Cursor No Longer Moves
Jeremy Pallats, thank you for the requested information. The next step would be to fully commit bisect from 13.04 to 13.10 in order to identify the offending commit. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1272740 Title: [System76 Lemur UltraThin 2] On Resume of Notebook Cursor No Longer Moves Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The bug basically makes the cursor useless.
Hi Christopher. I retested by installing the latest image on my notebook, the current daily seems to have other problems impeding testing of this bug. Among other things, it seems I can only put it to sleep once. I can resume successfully from this sleep but when I sleep it again it just locks and remains on never suspending. The cursor didn't get frozen the one time I did resume from sleep but it seems like testing this at the moment might not work. I have to reboot after this to get it to sleep again. What do you suggest? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1272740 Title: [System76 Lemur UltraThin 2] On Resume of Notebook Cursor No Longer Moves Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The bug basically makes the cursor useless.
