Re: FOSDEM 2016 - take action by 4th of December 2015

2015-12-05 Thread Andrea Pescetti
Just for the record, the message below was sent by Roman to a number of
mailing lists, but the deadline for the Open Document Editors devroom,
the one co-organized by Apache OpenOffice, is still December 7th. So you
are still in time, but be quick! See http://s.apache.org/rCo for the
call, which I'll repost today to the blog and here for the usual
last-minute submitters.

Regards,
  Andrea.

As most of you probably know FOSDEM 2016 (the biggest,
100% free open source developer conference) is right
around the corner:

We hope to have an ASF booth and we would love to see as
many ASF projects as possible present at various tracks
(AKA Developer rooms):
https://fosdem.org/2016/schedule/#devrooms

This year, for the first time, we are running a dedicated
Big Data and HPC Developer Room and given how much of that
open source development is done at ASF it would be great
to have folks submit talks to:
https://hpc-bigdata-fosdem16.github.io

While the CFPs for different Developer Rooms follow slightly
different schedules, but if you submit by the end of this week
you should be fine.

Finally if you don't want to fish for CFP submission URL,
here it is:
https://fosdem.org/submit

If you have any questions -- please email me *directly* and
hope to see as many of you as possible in two months!

Thanks,
Roman.

Reminder: submit your FOSDEM talk by 7 Dec 2015

2015-12-05 Thread Andrea Pescetti
Reminder: FOSDEM talk proposals are due by 7 December, so in
approximately 48 hours from now.

FOSDEM is in Brussels, 30 January 2016.

Talks are expected to be short (20 minutes) and focused on technical issues.

All details about submission are available in this new blog post:
https://blogs.apache.org/OOo/entry/apache_openoffice_at_fosdem_2016

Funding for speakers has traditionally been available. I haven't sent a
proposal in this sense yet (i.e., the traditional proposal to allocate
flat-rate reimbursement of, say, 250 EUR for each speaker) since it
takes time and, despite the discussions this takes, none of us ever
asked for a reimbursement. We can probably discuss it together with
merchandising when we have news about the approved stands.

Regards,
  Andrea.

Hi All,

The NetBeans integration plugin has been updated and verified by the
NetBeans team for NB 8.1.

It is available for download from NetBeans.org here [1] or through the
NetBeans Update Center.

For reference this is plugin version 4.1.4 for NB 8.1.
The last version for NB 8.0 is plugin version 4.1.3.

This update was required for NB api module changes.

Thanks,

Thank you for the update, Carl. It has fixed several problems with the
compilation and installation of some code fir an OO extension I am working on
(read: trying vainly to understand!) which didn't migrate well from Netbeans
8.0.2

Thanks for the feedback Rory,

I'm never sure how many people besides me use it, but I try to do what
little I can.

Best regards,
Carl
