Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] Regarding visiting OSGeo - KOSSA

2019-09-23 Thread Jody Garnett
Hyoshin Nam:

OSGeo is an international organization with members all over the world
(including a wonderful local chapter in Korea ). OSGeo
does not have a physical location in Boston, although we have some of our
members who live there and may be able to talk with you.

Please note that many of our software projects are developed in a
distributed fashion, allowing your software developers and system managers
to participate remotely. As an example I work on a project GeoServer
which has several opportunities for community
development an email list for developer
communication and a video chat every couple of weeks, and the last Friday
of each month we devote to fixing bugs.

If you do wish to talk about open source software licenses we have an
incubation
committee (once again
with an email list )
which helps development teams choose a license and set up their projects.

Finally our software foundation occasionally enters into
strategic partnership with industry development groups such as yours. We
have a page on partners and friends you
can look at for examples. Partners have a formal agreement, friends have a
history of collaboration but no formal agreement in place.

2019-09-23 Thread Piergiorgio Cipriano
Hi Silvia and Jachym,
maybe this study on GeoICT in Europe could be of interest?
http://www.smespire.eu/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2014/03/D1.3_FinalReport_1.0.pdf

This is a 2013 study by JRC of European Commission and other partners.
As far as I know it is the first (and maybe the unique) study at EU level
also focusing on OSS companies (indeed, many of the interviewed SMEs are in
the list of service providers shared by Jachym.

Actually, recently the JRC launched a follow-up study, with a new online
survey as part of the EOValue project [1]:
https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/EOValueSurvey

I guess OSGeo people will participate to this survey.

Best regards

Thanks Jachym,
I noticed that there is the information about the number of employees in
the detailed description.
I will try to put all the data together.

Thank you again!
