[OSGeo-Discuss] Informal deegree Community Meet Up in Bucharest right before FOSS4G 2019 starts

2019-08-22 Thread Dirk Stenger
Dear OSGeo and deegree community,

Several users and developers of OSGeo project deegree (including TMC
members) will be at the FOSS4G in Bucharest.

Thus, we had the great idea to have an informal deegree Community Meet
Up right before the conference starts.

We will meet in front of Corks bar (Str. Bacani, nr.1) in the historic
center of Bucharest on Tuesday, the 27th of August, at 7 PM.

Everyone being interested in deegree (https://www.deegree.org/) can
join us. We are really looking forward to meet new and familiar deegree
users/ developers in Bucharest!

Please drop me a short message if you are interested in joining.

Cheers,
Dirk

Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] GeoServer CITE Test Automation Request for Proposal

2019-12-12 Thread Dirk Stenger
Hi Jody and everyone else working on this activity,

We, as CITE Lead Compliance Tools, are very much in favor of this idea.
This is, in our opinion, a good example how OSGeo projects can work
together and benefit from each other. Of course, we are interested in
the results of this activity as this is also a great opportunity for
TEAM Engine and related test suites to advance and to get more known.

So, if you have any questions or if you need help, you are very much
welcome to contact us. The OGC CITE team is willing to support the
activity as much as possible.

Regards,
Dirk

[OSGeo-Discuss] OGC CITE compliance testing

2021-02-22 Thread Dirk Stenger
All,

I am writing as being an active deegree (https://www.deegree.org/)
developer but also being part of the OGC CITE team.

We, the deegree community, are planning to update the test
infrastructure to make sure that all new deegree releases are fully
compliant to the OGC specs.

I saw that OSGeo created a wiki page
(https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/OGC_Certification_Services) tackling this
topic and that it was presented during the last AGM.

As the deegree community is highly interested working closely together
with OSGeo and OGC, a couple of questions came up:

- I remember that OSGeo wanted to support integrating OGC CITE tests to
project infrastructures making it easy to execute the CITE tests. Is
there any documentation about the results? Maybe, the deegree community
can also profit from the results and help to improve them.
- Are there any other projects using automated OGC CITE tests? Maybe,
the deegree community can cooperate with them which might help both
sides to improve their CITE testing capabilities.

Regards,
Dirk

[OSGeo-Discuss] Version parameter missing in WMS 1.3 GetMap request

2021-10-07 Thread Dirk Stenger via Discuss

Hi all,

We have following problem and are interested in the opinion of other
implementers of the WMS 1.3 specification.

For example, a GetMap request is sent to a deegree service:
*
https://inspire.brandenburg.de/services/ef_sem_wms?BBOX=228152.%2C5690412.%2C493382.%2C5939023.&CRS=EPSG%3A25833&FORMAT=image%2Fpng&HEIGHT=500&LAYERS=EF.EnvironmentalMonitoringProgrammes&REQUEST=GetMap&SERVICE=WMS&STYLES=EF.EnvironmentalMonitoringProgrammes.Default.Point&WIDTH=500

A map is returned instead of an exception.
Reading the specification (OGC® 06-042) this is a bug in the software
implementation as version is a mandatory parameter.

However, it is not 100% clear what exception type shall be thrown as the
service does not know what WMS version is requested (WMS 1.3 has its own
exception schema).

In addition, we should be aware that some clients may omit the version
parameter in a GetMap request.
So, a fix of this behavior might break the compatibility with some clients.
As far as we see, GeoServer also ignores a missing version.

How do you handle such cases?
How do you determine what exception shall be thrown if, for example, the
version parameter is missing?
Is the compatibility to the specification or to actual implementations of
clients more important?

We are looking forward to your thoughts about this issue and appreciate any
help.

Kind regards,
Dirk Stenger
