Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] GeoServer CITE Test Automation Request for Proposal

2019-12-12 Thread Jody Garnett
Thank you Dirk,

Updated for today is that the PSC has select a successful proposal form
GeoSolutions, and I confirmed I can upload this proposal to our wiki for
interested parties.

Our RFP outlined a solid requirement to work with the CITE Team repos as
provided (and not fork this time). So expect some more
collaboration/feedback from our community.

We would really like to see the CITE team participate i our OSGeo community
sprints and collaborate directly on these activities. Indeed CITE took part
in last years sprint and worked a bit on the OSGeo "incubation" graduation
checklist which was great to see (CITE is part of the osgeo community
projects, and was accepted into the incubation process but has not shown
much progress yet).

Re: [OSGeo-Discuss] GeoServer CITE Test Automation Request for Proposal

2019-12-12 Thread Dirk Stenger
Hi Jody and everyone else working on this activity,

We, as CITE Lead Compliance Tools, are very much in favor of this idea.
This is, in our opinion, a good example how OSGeo projects can work
together and benefit from each other. Of course, we are interested in
the results of this activity as this is also a great opportunity for
TEAM Engine and related test suites to advance and to get more known.

So, if you have any questions or if you need help, you are very much
welcome to contact us. The OGC CITE team is willing to support the
activity as much as possible.

Regards,
Dirk

That would be great to have a central Jenkins CI instance at OSGeo
infrastructure. Having such a docker based test environment for all
OSGeo projects implementing OGC standards would definitely ease the
check for compliance.

Well in this case we have had several false starts, simply too big an
activity to tackle on volunteer time.

The GeoServer PSC is voting on a received proposal now, primarily based
around docker images. The resulting work will be public (and could be
adapted to a Jenkins instances hosted by SAC for example).
