Re: [slim] Should I buy an iPhone?
I have recently bought an iPhone, which serves very well as a Squeezebox controller (using iPeng app) as well as of course promises to be a very nice MP3 player. I would really love to hone an easily automated way of syncing my Squeezecenter library with one which I can carry with me on the iPhone. Having half of my large music collection as FLAC files means I can't use iTunes to sync these. The answer seemed to lie in Mediamonkey Gold- which can autoconvert FLAC, Ogg, etc and high-bitrate music files to lower bitrate MP3 files which are better suited to syncing with the iPhone. I much preferred Mediamonkey's library management also, it just seemed to work better with the tags I create in mp3tag for the Squeezecenter library. I use trackstat to rate my music in Squeezecenter- I tried and failed to have an automated way of e.g. taking this rating and applying it as a rating within Mediamonkey (via a script). This would allow me to only sync those tracks to the iPhone which I originally rated on Squeezecenter. I was able to do this manually by using Trackstat Export, to export the e.g. 4star rated files as a playlist, and import this playlist into Mediamonkey, then rate everything in it with 4 stars. Then came the bombshell that the new iPhone firmware upgrade crashes Mediamonkey. Now I am forced to using iTunes again, and will have to explore the option of creating a separate lower bitrate MP3 library for syncing with the iPhone. This gets me nowhere nearer a solution for automating ratings transfers from trackstat, so that rated playlists can be automatically synced to the iPhone (to save space with no duff tracks), and be up-to-date with all recently rated tracks. I have given up on the idea of syncing "number of plays" between trackstat and itunes/mediamonkey. Would be interesting to see how others deal with syncing recently rated tracks. -- heidtheba heidtheba's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10270 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=65750 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Relaunching the public website as www.logitechsqueezebox.com
First impressions - very appealing to the eye, and better explained the novice. However- I am in the UK. And once again, I see prices in dollars, and no obvious prospect that I can actually buy this line of products in the UK, which is sad. Sorry, but if I didn't know better (I own classic, duet and boom) I would probably just move on to another product. -- heidtheba heidtheba's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10270 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64421 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Poll: Favorite Online Music Service
A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48442 Question: Favorite Online Music Service - Pandora - Rhapsody - Radio IO - Radio Time - Slacker - Live 365 - Sirius - Generic internet radio (i.e. Shoutcast) 1) Last.fm. Absolute gold-dust, given that UK users have less services to pick from. The joyous discovery of 'Play Tag' radio and 'Similar Artists' radio fully affirmed to me just how superb a Squeezebox is. 2) AlienBBC. The BBC 'listen again' archives at your fingertips, from your sofa or bed, is all you can ask for when it comes to having enough quality UK radio to choose from. IMHO these two services alone are what Logitech should really push in the UK if they want to make people sit up and notice. I know of a great many people, who may regard themselves as music/internet savvy, who had no idea about such features. Marketing is just not localised enough country-wise, or reaching the Joe Bloggs/'PC World' shoppers it needs to. -- heidtheba heidtheba's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10270 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48442 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
