Re: [slim] Quality loss with ReplayGain?
It does affect the sound quality, but so little that it should be totally inaudible. It just adjusts the volume in digital domain and causes noise in the lowest bit(s), but that is below the hearing threshold. When you tested, did you compare with identical sound levels? The louder always sounds better, even if the difference is very small. -- tot Teemu tot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11843 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71138 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] What Squeezebox to get for bedroom
You should think your setup and where the player is located and how convenient it is to use. I have classic next to my bed and added the controller to hold on hand (easier to operate when using headphones in the bed.) Much better. -- tot Teemu tot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11843 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=52940 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Wireless Strength - Help!
If it is convenient for the location, you might want to play with just a aluminium foil around the squeezebox. One of my sb3's had a hard time reliably streaming flac and simply placing sheet of aluminium foil behind it to reflect signals towards the access point increased the signal strength 20% and tests ok even at max speed. -- tot tot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11843 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=37296 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Genres and years...
yooper;217663 Wrote: > I have spent a lot of time ensuring my tags are good, but never did pay > attention to genres/years and would like to have my library as accurate > as possible. I have found that both of these are bit hard to get right (for what you want). Year is easy for albums sounds easy, but what if it is a MFSL issue or something special, do you want the original year or the actual issue. What about collections (best of or compilation), the year per track when released or the year of the collection. I personally go for the original album/track year if easily available. Genre is even worse, how fine grained you want it who's the jugde. Since I am bad judging genres I go for mostly wikipedia and if multiple listed I pick what I mostly think and will remember. I prefer consistency and something useful but still find crap in my collection when looking afterwards. I highly doubt you can automate this unless you want some random results. But if random is what you want, why bother. -- tot tot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11843 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=37177 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Streaming 24bit FLAC audio
The faster bitrate is really pushing to the limits of what 802.11g can do. I tested once 24bit/96kHz flac and had the same problem over wireless (router has even directional high-gain antenna). Since SB3 can not really do 96kHz anyway why not downsample them to 48kHz, they work just fine over wireless.
