Re: [slim] Good Server Hardware Option
I have mine installed on an HP Media Smart server running Windows Home Server. it was awesome to just install the software and be up and running in minutes, since all of music was already stored on the box. -- lancepr lancepr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36222 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74924 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Good Server Hardware Option
i run SBS on an Atom 330 myself, because I was tired of keeping the 70W (at idle) silent server always on. I run Linux Ubuntu on a 330 powered Shuttle X27D, and SBS runs well after some installation frustration. The little server never draw more than 26W, and it is surprisingly versatile. I now use it all the time for web cruising and 90% of day to date duties, I only now have to turn on the big machine to run the more heavyweight Windows Office Apps. I can recommend a 330 based SBS server. Oh, my music collection is external. The server is very lightweight, just runs off a 32GB SSD, which of course makes it very snappy when booting, and further increases power efficiency. -- pablolie ...pablo Server: Shuttle X27D - Ubuntu 8.04LTS - SBS 7.4.1 Sources: SB3 (3), SB Boom (3), Duet (1), Radio (1), Accuphase DP65v CD (used as DAC mostly) Amplifiers: Accuphase E306v - Creek OBH21/22 Loudspeakers: Ceeroy 3-way tower (tuned) - Audioengine 5/S8 - Acoustic Energy Aego M Headphones: Grado SR-1 pablolie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74924 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I currently use the ASUS EEE Box as my Squeezebox Server and it works fine. I do plan to move to a Vortexbox soon though to take advantage of the ripping features and larger capacity. -- upstatemike 6x SliMP3, 1x SB1, 2x SB2, 10x SB3, 2x SBR, 4x SBC, 1x Boom upstatemike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6409 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74924 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Yeah but the system is only 219.00$ after rebate. With an external drive this would make a fine low powered SB server. -- johnas johnas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=31930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74924 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
