Enrico Oliva <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterence to the drakelist gang
--
Hello,
since last week I am the (very) proud owner of a R-7.
My receiver is in good conditions, except some minor faults:
- Noise between 280 and 400 kHz when internal power supply is in use.
Disappears when an external PS is used.
- Sensitivity seems to be good but not "as it should be".
The radio is not deaf at all - it receives everything heard by an
AOR7030 *but* I have to switch the preamplifier on, while the 7030
don't need any boosting to deal with the same signal.
- S-meter seems to be quite ungenerous. Maybe a consequence of the
above. And maybe the AOR has the opposite problem, but a 9+20 on the
AOR is a S7 on the Drake. And an S5 on the AOR barely moves the R7's
needle.
I am into DX listening since 30 years but, shame on me, I am not into
technics. If you ask me, I would say that my Drake would benefit from
some allignement. Is there anything I could do with tools like a
screwdriver and my ear? Until now I did not tamper with any trimmer -
and I will not do it unless otherwise instructed.
Any suggestion?
Last question: I am into LW beacons DXing. A bit of preamplification
on LF would be welcome. Is there any hope of convincing the R7 preamp
to perform also on 250-500 kHz?
Thanks for your patience. I apologize if my questions have already
been answered in the past.
