Eagle PCB Cad will kick some butt, but it’s a steep learning curve

Free, for the trial version with no restrictions other than no pcb bigger than
3 x 4 inches

I would never use software that locks into one company, ties all your work to
them.

Marco,

I took pictures when I did the second AC-4R kit install. You may
find them helpful:

There is pretty much, one picture per instruction in the
documentation.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I just joined the Yahoo group also.

Chuck, when the time comes for the PS kit, I will have a very capable friend
who will guide/help me through it. I also seen a Youtube video showing it's not
all that complicated. My PS has a very slight hum that you can only hear with
the volume completely silent.

Hi Marco, you came to the right place.

Speaking of the AC4 upgrade kit, I've done two of them, one for an AC3. It'll
do both though it's a little confusing for the AC3 (different colored wires
etc).

Here's my tip on that kit. Squeemish about bringing up a 750VDC supply (I was)
?
I took a filament transformer and fed the 12VAC to the supply instead of the
120VAC. Then check the outputs and multiply by 10. Much less exciting, but
that was my goal. 750 will arc to something that's too close, so take care.

Marco,
Welcome my friend!
You will have a nice time here...and lots of help if you need it.

I currently have:
Sherwood modified R-4C
T-4XC
L-4B
MN-2700 tuner

Use them all the time.

Looking for a real nice TR-3 or 4 to add to my station.

Get great reports and work tons of DX with the C line.

Hello folks! VE2MRN Marco here and I just found a group that shares the same
passion of Drake as I do!
I've been licensed since January 1991 and the TR-4 was my very first HF rig.
I've been doing a lot of lurking before stepping up, and found all kinds of
information lately on these beautiful rigs that I couldn't/didn't find before!
I especially like the AC4 refurbishing kit that I must acquire eventually!

Not wanting to make this an exhausting long intro, I am very happy to be part
of this group.

I found a brand new mobile power cord in a drawer. I have no clue when I got
it but I had a basic question regarding it. It has three leads, red, black and
white. I know red is positive and black is negative but what is white used
for. I looked up the the cord in the drake manual but I can't see where the
white lead comes into the schematic.
