Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and QRZ.com **SOLVED**
So it turns out that somehow the Data Source under Address Search was set to None and I did not notice it!! When I noticed this I thought maybe changing from using the web page lookup (alt-F3) to the XML subscription it got changed by the program - because I assumed that if the Data Source was None it would not have worked for the Web lookup either... Wrong! I tested this and with Data Source set to None the Web lookup still works fine, so it was all cockpit error. Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and QRZ.com
Thank you so much for your response, guys! This is probably the first time I've received an answer in a group so quickly! Maybe because non of this very useful and sometimes very much needed options/features were ever implemented — the DX4WIN team never ever made a comment on the issue so far :-( ! And at the same time less significant issues like QRZ.com online lookup is widely discussed hihi. Though XML subscription for another 35 USD/year is not necessary at all for a serious DX’er using this proprietary DX4WIN Software By the way — if anyone of you would like to use this logger for preparing an application for any custom award except for those 8 listed in Report Generator ( ie DXCC WAZ WPX WAS Cty IOTA etc) — don’t be surprised to have a biggest headache ! Unless you are chasing for a single award only from the long «Custom» pop-up menu list — when opening a certain award and clicking «Submission» — it will rather generate for you a weird Application form with a mix of all your data for all of your custom awards ever checked. Try it your self (ifyou don’t beleive me ) and have fun:-) ! Of course I have a workaround, but isn’t it very pity and even strange that the best logging software in history, which most of us have been using since the 90s or even earlier, can't provide us with the aforementioned features that would be available in almost every free contesting program! Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and QRZ.com
Hello Dima, There does not appear to be a way to filter QSOs by continent in dx4win. You could export an ADIF file, look at it with MS Excel (or some other spreadsheet program), and filter that by continent and then by callsign. Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and QRZ.com
Hello Guy and the group ! In the past I was asking several questions about DX4WIN but never received a reply. It seems incredible that no one has the answer! Maybe there are just almost no readers here? Anyhow I will try to repeat it again and maybe I am lucky this time :-) ! * How to select and count unique callsigns based on selection criteria — DXCC, State, WAZ etc., or just a total of uniques in the log? * There is no field ( box) for the continent in any of menu’s. Does it mean that we can’t see our stats by continent at all? For example, in the case of the USA — we can use a filter to sort by States in the Report editor. Also, IF you are NOT a XML subscriber you can link the F3 key to get op/QSL information to the Flying Horse CD which I have installed on my PC. I have a screen shot of my SETUP PARAMETERS window I can send if requested. -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Tim moore Sent: Monday, June 26, 2023 08:21 AM To: Florian w Cc: DX4WIN Reflector Subject: Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and QRZ.com Hitting JUST F3.when in the QSO window, brings up the pop-up (with the information on the current showing callsignIFyou are an XML subscriber on QRZ). Hello Forum, I'm basically trying to set up the QRZ.com online lookup. What I'd like it do is as soon as I type a callsign, it to show QTH, Name, locator etc in the QSO field. I found a link on AD1C's webpage but this is only concerning the CD-ROM. I do not have a CD-ROM, just a subscription to the website. [Dx4win] DX4WIN and QRZ.COM
I have DX4win set up so when I have a callsign in the F3 CALLSIGN/MGR LOOKUP window I can hit ENTER and a QRZ.COM page opens for that callsign. This has worked FB for me for about 10 years. Lately I have been having problems (not a DX4WIN problem) with the way this is now working, or not working. I am a paid subscriber to QRZ.COM and need to sign in to use it. But when I open QRZ.COM I cannot stay logged in for more than a few minutes. I entered the ARRL DX SSB and was going thru my QSO's to find addresses to send my QSL's. I would sign into qrz.com, look up 2 or 3 calls then the next look up I had to sign back in. Sometimes I can do a max of 5 lookups, sometimes only one, then get kicked off. I have never had this problem before. Once I signed in I stayed signed in until I shut the PC down. I tried the QRZ.COM trouble desk and they tell me it is an IE problem and to try a different browser. I do have CHROME installed and can manually open QRZ.COM using CHROME OK. In DX4WIN Preferences/Setup/Ext Data in the Callsign Lookup selection I have www.qrz.com/db/ which takes me to the qrz.com website using IE. How do I redirect it to www.qrz.com/db/ on CHROME? Again, this is not a DX4WIN problem but just a matter of how to tell DX4WIN where to look for a database. Has anyone else been experiencing this problem?
