It's always nice to hear from you. Answers to your questions: Latest country file: I have just downloaded it from your website. The installation instructions will take a little time to digest! I took the first step by copying the entire save directory to a backup directory. Thanks for the tip that 8.04 shipped with an old country file. Are the calls associated with the correct entity? Yes. All the calls on Needed seem to have the correct entity. FO8AT is FO0 5/20/50 20 cw DXCC Mixed C Band S Mode S K1IMP/KC4 (Don Miller!) KP1 9/1/66 20 cw DXCC Mixed $ Band $Mode $ K4IA/KC4 KP1 6/23/69 20 cw DXCC Mixed -- Band -- Mode -- I suspect the marks following DXCC Mixed etc need to be changed. Are the DXCC flags INVALID? NO The Country window says all the calls are confirmed. I did not specify a particular band or mode so it should be a pure MIXED listing. What I don't understand why these 3 contacts are appearing on the MIXED listing. I would like them not to appear in Needed at all since they just clutter up the display. When I merge the new countries list with all the new Carribean countries it's going to be cluttered enough until I work them. Hope you can help. That's because the name of the entity is "Prince Edward and Marion Islands", which is why "Pr. Edward & Marion Islands" appears. I have ZS8MI from 1990 as confirmed by the DXCC desk for this. 73, -Rick -- Rick Murphy, CISSP-ISSAP, K1MU/4, Annandale VA USA __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Good news: I actually worked ZS8MI twice in April 04. Qsl says Marion Island. When I look under F1 in the prefix list, there is no Marion Island but Pr Edward I appears. The location is given as Marion Island with coordinates: S36?52'35'' E37?51'39'' So did I work Marion Island after all, or this a different place? Thanks for your help Rick. When you open those entries in your log, what entity appears? When were the QSOs made and what mode? You can find them using "F8" in the QSO window, entering the call in the "Callsign" window and hitting enter. I ask about the date because there were cases in the older versions of DX4WIN where you were given credit for QSOs prior to January 1, 1975 (the start date for the CW DXCC award). 8.0 was updated to properly account for those. > On the other hand, at least one country I have never worked does _not_ > appear on the Needed list > Marion Island What do you see from DX4WIN if you search for ZS8 QSOs? [Dx4win] New version has errors in Needed listing.
I recently updated Dx4win to 8.04 and found the following mysterious errors when I examine the "Needed Countries" listing. The following countries _appear_ on the Needed list that I know have been worked and confirmed by me and appear as confirmed when I examine the entries in the log. FO8AT Clipperton K1IMP/KC4 Navassa K4IA/KC4Navassa On the other hand, at least one country I have never worked does _not_ appear on the Needed list Marion Island These anomalies suggest to me that the log is somewhat screwed up. There should be no such errors. DX4Win should have made the necessary adjustments from the old log which was based on DX4Win 7.something. I'm trying to think of ways to go through the log and find other errors which I expect can be found. Can anyone suggest what happened or a fix?
