Re: [Dx4win] Using Steppir with DX4WIN

Hi Dave,
The idea behind controlling SteppIR antennas is having more than one
Radio (even from different brands) sending the correct frequency
of the radio you are using now in kenwood format to the SteppIR controller
without having to change Y-cables and setups every time you switch radios.

[Dx4win] Using Steppir with DX4WIN

2010-08-26 Thread Dave Perry N4QS
I am getting ready to order a Steppir yagi but want to make sure I order the
correct cables. I use both DX4WIN and N1MM for logging. DX4WIN has built in
support for controlling Steppir antennas. The documentation indicates that I
can continue to use COM1 to connect my pc to my K3 and then I can use another
com port (in my case COM5) to connect my pc to the Data/In port on the SDA100
controller. With this setup, DX4WIN will apparently poll the K3 and pass the TX
frequency automatically to the SDA100 controller whenever the TX frequency
changes. Does this cabling scheme sound right?

Is this approach better than using a Y cable and having the SDA controller
listen
for any frequency exchanges between the pc and the K3?

I am also wondering whether or not N1MM can support Steppir in the same
way. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Dave, N4QS
