2009-06-01 Thread Eric Swartz - WA6HHQ, Elecraft
Hi John,

This is a programming jack used only in our K3 production and test. It
currently does not have another use.

We use it for initial setup and test of the K3 front panel module. It
may also be used for future accessories, such as an external keypad,
VFO knob, etc.

Well at least you tried ;) If you searched for "front panel rj45", you
might have found:

BTW, on the topic of mailing lists practices - please don't start new
threads by replying to old ones and changing the subject line - that
leaves references to the old messages (that you don't see) and
continues the old thread.

Seems the folks in Aptos use it for testing purposes in factory built rigs. I
think there is an alternate purpose in its future. Stay tuned for further
developments :)

[Elecraft] [K3] Modular Jack?

2009-06-01 Thread John Frerichs

I've just finished assembling my K3 and cannot find any reference as to the
purpose for the modular jack at the bottom, front, right part of the radio.
I've searched on-line and through the message archives, as well as scanned
through the Owner's Manual PDF for the key words "modular" and "jack" to no
avail.  I see it in the Operating Manual (p76) and several places in the
Assembly Manual, but don't see any reference to it.

What is the purpose of this jack?

If this has been answered elsewhere and I've missed it, my apologies.

Thanks,
