[Elecraft] First KX-1 Contacts!
Okay, I am pumped and just had to share. I finally finished up my Elecraft KX-1 and internal tuner. I headed to the park today at lunch and threw my 28 ft. wire up in the tree with a 16 ft. counterpoise. I ran off the internal battery pack. I not been on the air for probably 12 years I called CQ both times! Keith - KB8FE Darval - W7KNA - two much better ops than I. Thanks guys! CW is VERY rusty - but I managed! Re: [Elecraft] First KX-1 Contacts!
Congrats Burke! I've hostled just about every sort of radio on solid ground, on the sea or in the air from the big Gates and Harris broadcast transmitters on down in size and complexity to my little one-transistor xtal oscillators. The exotic 'state of the art' stuff can be extremely interesting and a satisfying challenge to fire up, whether it's on the Ham bands or in a commercial installation, but for guys like me the simpler the rig the bigger the emotional charge I get from making it work. It's another example of the simpler life being the more satisfying life. Sounds like you're of a like mind. Keep it up and have fun. I've often worked KS QRP. Maybe we'll hook up some day. 73, Ron AC7AC -Original Message- Okay, I am pumped and just had to share. I finally finished up my Elecraft KX-1 and internal tuner.
