Yepp, that is how I do it, too. I just thought there were something more convenient. Thank you anyway :-) Gesendet mit Blue Am 27. [O] Inserting todo time range
I do have a recurring task Mo-Fri, but not at weekends. I searched the manual and it offers a time range - like ** Test Time range <2004-08-23 Mon>--<2004-08-26 Thu> But, of course, this doesn't mark a recurring task. If instead I would use ** TODO Test Time range <2004-08-23 Mon>--<2004-08-26 Thu> then this for org-mode would just be one todo; if I mark it done on Mon all other days are marked as done, too. So how would I schedule a daily TODO only, say, this week from Mo - Fr? ray
Re: [Orgmode] How to combine the analogue (Moleskine) world with digital (org-mode) world ?
Hi, I am a "heavy note taker" and also running org-mode and paper. Paper has advantages mostly when thinking slowly and may be more reflective. Computer has its advantages when it comes to organizing stuff. What works for me is running a leporella calendar for appointments - for this thing can come along with me no matter where I go. Notes I do take where ever I am with whatsover is available. And I have set aside a repetitive appointment with myself to go through all the notes and to find out what to do with what. Remaining are the todo-lists. They come wonderfuly out of orgmode - and all I was to find out was how to plan ahead my next week. How do I do that? Easy. I go through all the notes I've taken and decide, what to do with it. A last note on what I was to find out: Don't try to be too sharp - a little chaos left is kind of a little salt for the soup ... :-) Good luck :-) ray ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Please use `Reply All' to send replies to the list. [Orgmode] unicorn
Hello there, just a (stupid?) question: On the orgmode.org site there is the image of a unicorn. Is this the official Logo for org-mode? I (finaly!) plan on writing and publishing a little org-mode Manual and I would find it nice to have a logo that connects to the project of org-mode. Oh, and btw, if german guys from the list here are wanting to help, help would be very welcome ... :-) ray ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list. [Orgmode] Windows and emacs
Hi guys, it may happen that I have to switch to Windows XP and since I have no idea how XP works (up to this point in time I only ran Linux machines) I thought to ask since I want to stick with org-mode: How do I get org-mode and emacs run best with XP? As far as I know there are at least two ways to get emacs running; one is to simply download emacs, two is downloading cygwin; if it is cygwin that I have to go with then which emacs? If I saw it right there are several choices ... ummm ... any hints on that? Thanx in advance ray ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list. [Orgmode] some notes about installing org-mode on Sidux
Hello all, I faced some problems with using remember and org-mode and first I didn't connect them with either remember nor org-mode but with my use of aptitude instead, which is completely wrong with Sidux (well, we all learn ... ) However, in the end I thought to just mention a few of my experiences. Since I am no expert, neither with emacs nor with any programming languages (-being just a lousy user instead-) I thought to mention them anyway :-) ... if all what I faced is connected with incompetence on my side, well, don't through tomatoes at me ... just smile, please :-) Ok, first I installed Sidux, a system based on Debian sid, but stabilized and realy easy to use. I installed emacs22 and became quite amazed learning that org-mode came along bundled with emacs22. Yeah, I thought, great. Since I came from Ubuntu, the only thing I needed to do was to outcomment ;;(require 'org-install) and all went well. However, after some time of using org-mode I became aware that when exporting to html CSS didn't work properly (which had worked before with Ubuntu!) When researching the reason I found out that the version that came bundled with emacs22 is a very old version (AFAIR 4.65, and I guess back then there had been no org-install variable and that was the reason why I was to outcomment it to have org-mode working ... right?). Next I found out that there existed a seperate deb pakage "org-mode" which then delivered the newest version. And this one needs to have set (require 'org-install) otherwise it will not work (at least) with remember-el. I may have overlooked that in the manual that older versions don't accept "org-install", but newer versions need it to work properly. Also according to my fresh experience it seems to matter if (require 'org-install) is called *before* e.g.: (org-remember-insinuate) (setq org-directory "~/Rollen/Org/") (define-key global-map "\C-cr" 'org-remember) If not emacs complains about a void org-remember-insinuate and will not work together with remember-el. There is another thing that I noted when installing org-mode. Here the install note: ---snip--- In org-indent-to-column: org-compat.el:212:5:Warning: `indent-to-column' called with 3 args, but requires 1-2 ---snap--- Ok, so that was what I wanted to mention ... ray ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list. [Orgmode] feature request
Hi fellows, I have a question/feature request. Often tables are a very easy and apropriate way to structure information that are fluent. I work at the following table (e.g.): | Hotel | Manager | price | requested | booked | --- | blah | Mayer| 250 | | | | bluh | Schulze | 260 || | Now here comes what would be neat: The tables lists all Hotels who offer seminar rooms, which person is banquett manager, the price for the room. Since I often book rooms for seminars (or invite people to workshops etc.) managing bookings/invitations via tables is more effective than doing it with TODO-items (more so because the same table is used over and over again). What would help greatly would be a way to manage fields the same way as with TODO items: A key-string would place a "NO" "RUNNING" "ANSWERED" button right there ... same way as with TODO-items. Is this already possible? Haven't found it in the manual. Greetings, ray ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list.
