RE: How to Upgrade an HP8566A

1998-10-01 Thread Brumbaugh, David
Steve

I know that we have upgraded at least several HP8566A's to B's. I
believe we did this by returning them to HP to perform the upgrade
service. I would recommend contacting your local HP rep directly. Or,
try their Test & Measurement call center at 800-542-4844.

RE:cellular phone supply system

1998-10-01 Thread Edward Eszlari
Moshe,

I have been testing power supplies for use in cell sites to EN 60950 (ITE
equipment). This standard has been requested and accepted by the company
purchasing these supplies from the power supply vendor I am dealing with.

UL has been testing the supplies to UL 1950.

Approval in Korea without sending units to Korea seems great.
Do you have already experience with any products and how
long it took to get the custom clearance by the Korea

How to Upgrade an HP8566A

1998-10-01 Thread Steve Kuiper
Hello folks,

Anyone familiar with an upgrade service or consultant who can convert an
HP8566A to an HP8566B???
In terms of commercial EMI testing, would this be a good, reliable
inexpensive alternative compared to using an original HP factory built 8566B
or newer HP spec analyzer / receiver model???

A few months back, I heard there was a contact in the San Diego, CA area.
Any names or numbers heard of preferrably in the Southern California Area?

Kind regards,

Steve Kuiper

Conducted Emissions, average method

1998-10-01 Thread Steve Kuiper
Ladies and Gents,

Since the original posting, would anyone concur with the spectrum analyzer
settings and steps necessary to successful complete conducted emissions
using the average method:

Please consider using this eight (8) step procedure as a generic model for
your suggestions.

A1) Set the Video Bandwidth on the analyzer to one tenth the resolution
bandwidth.
A2) Center the signal frequency in question on the analyzer screen.
A3) While keeping the chosen signal in the center of the analyzer screen,
reduce the
frequency span to 0 Hz.
A4) Reduce the video bandwidth on the analyzer until there is no modulation
on the signal
in question. Typically, this would occur when a smooth trace is displayed
on the
  spectrum analyzer.
A5) Set the analyzer to linear mode, depress “LIN” button. In linear mode
it may be
necessary to increase the sensitivity of the analyzer by pressing the
“Reference Level”
  “UP” or “DOWN” arrow key.
A6) The signal level should be above the lowest graticule and below the
highest graticule
on the analyzer screen. The analyzer at this time will be in uv. It will
be necessary to
press the “SHIFT” and then “C” buttons in order to be recording under
dBuV.
A7) Depress the “MAX-HOLD” button, and “PEAK SEARCH” button, now record
this
meter reading on the Excel spreadsheet project file.
A8) Return the analyzer to the normal operating mode.

NOTE: It is important to remember when reducing the video bandwidth,
resolution bandwidth,
or frequency span as to not cause the analyzer to become uncalibrated, nor
to cause the
identified peak signal to be lost.

Thanks again.

Steve Kuiper
