RE: [expert] External SCSI Tape Library
Its a Exabyte EXB10H . I do have the 2940 up and running im running a 12 gig scsi drive. No help from Exabyte. I know I need scsi tape compiled into the kernel. Will linux see the library on boot? Will it autoprobe for it? Can i manually start autoprobe? RE: [expert] External SCSI Tape Library - Correction
I just double-checked on a machine that has never had any SCSI adapters installed in it (running 7.1 w/ 2.2.16-9 kernel), and the SCSI modules are actually installed, they just aren't loaded since there's no SCSI devices. So you may not have to recompile the kernel Can anyone else verify this? Especially since he's running an older version? -Original Message- From: John Rundgren To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Sent: 8/9/00 12:58 PM Subject: RE: [expert] External SCSI Tape Library Kind of a silly question hereBut what model/library is it? Re: [expert] External SCSI Tape Library
Well, I don't know about a library, but for a plain tape dirve you'll need: kernel SCSI tape support kernel or module support for Adaptec AIC7xxx Your device should show up /dev/st0. Changer commands, I don't know. mt -f /dev/st0 is your tape control tar, cpio etc. for backups Stew Benedict 1:06pm up 2 days, 14:21, 3 users, load average: 0.10, 0.72, 0.76 Have you had your Open Source today? if not, why not!? Kind of a silly question hereBut what model/library is it? Have you looked at Exabyte's site? http://www.exabyte.com/ Have you looked at the Linux Tape Device Certification site? http://www.linuxtapecert.org/ Is the 2940 card already installed and working? Or is this a new install as well? If it's not already installed, you'll want to find out if SCSI support is included in your kernel.
